Steven sniffed. "Such an emotional ending," you were about to reply, then noticed Pearl sobbing as well.

"The movie wasn't even that good," you muttered to yourself, loud enough for Garnet to hear.

She chuckled softly, "Don't be so mean."

After the movie finally ended, everyone managed to fall asleep, although you doubted Pearl's credibility. Everyone except you, of course.

The lights were turned off, and you could barely distinguish the shapes in the pitch-dark room.

You turned to Garnet, who was resting soundly, or so it seemed, it was hard to tell because of her shades.

"I'm so lucky," you mumbled, turning your gaze back to the ceiling.

You sighed; a lot had happened in the last few days, it was overwhelming. You glanced at Garnet once more and smiled. You moved your sleeping sack closer to hers.

Minutes turned into hours, and sleep still seemed to elude you. You gave up; it was impossible.

All of a sudden, you felt an arm wrapping around you.

You looked next to you, and it was Garnet. Was she moving in her sleep?

"Stop squirming," she whispered. That made more sense than what you initially thought.

"Sorry," that's why she surrounded you with her arm, so you'd stop moving. Not as romantic as you wished.

You probably woke her up, but she didn't sound too annoyed about it. Maybe she had been too harsh, and she knew how much you were struggling to fall asleep.

"It's the floor," she suddenly whispered.

You turned to her again, "What?"

"Sleeping on the floor, it's too uncomfortable. That's why you can't sleep," she replied, her voice so low you had no idea how you were able to understand her.

"Yeah, so?" You muttered, trying to keep your tone down.

She got even closer to you. "I checked multiple paths from the future, and the one where you sleep the best is one where you go sleep elsewhere, somewhere with a bed."

You didn't know if it was because you were overdressed or because of the warming closeness to her, but your cheeks burned vividly.

You looked over at her, admiring the dark environment. "Can you come with me?" You asked in a slightly frightened tone.

Just a minimal amount of illumination was enough to appreciate Garnet's warm smile. "Sure."

Cautiously getting out of your sleeping sacks, you two walked to the corridor.

"Ouch," you whimpered after bumping your shoulder into the wall, walking through the dark was more dangerous than you thought.

Garnet carefully took hold of your arm and kissed your temple with tenderness. It didn't hurt anymore all the sudden.

That probably made some noise, enough to wake Amethyst up.

She mumbled incoherent words as she rubbed her face. "What was that?"

There was a light, something shining from the distance that caught Amethyst's eyes.

Pearl's forehead was fiercely glowing, which intrigued Amethyst even more. "Ooh, interesting."

Back to you, Garnet and you reached the guest room at the end of the hallway, silently getting inside.

You carefully closed the door. "Thank you," you whispered.

She walked to the nightstand and turned the nightlight on. With clear sight, you admired Garnet's warm smile. "You're welcome."

Then your eyes fell on her body, and a sudden realization hit your mind. She had shape-shifted, somewhere between finishing the movie and then. It wasn't a small shift, but a shift you only saw in... special occasions. Her volume was much more realistic, if you know what I mean.

You moved to the opposite side of the mattress, sitting on it before you glanced at your partner once more. You turned on your nightlight as well. "Garnet?"

She sat down too. "Tell me, dear."

"Just, uh, you know nothing is going to happen, right?" You struggled between words.

She tilted her head, puzzled by what you just said. "No... it isn't," her response sounded more like a question rather than like an answer.

"Oh, good," you slightly coughed. You got inside the bed as she did the same, and both of your backs were facing each other.

"Sweet dreams," she whispered, turning off her light.

"Sweet dreams," you replied, imitating the same movement.

After some minutes, you turned to your side, she did the same not much after, both of you were facing each other then.

"I guess it wasn't the floor," you chuckled.

"Just keep trying," she whispered back, then reached out her hand to your face, soothingly caressing your cheek.

You smiled. "Okay," you moved closer to her, wrapping your arms around her and resting your face in her then much more realistic bust.

She hummed happily back, reciprocating your embrace. She rested her chin over your mane.

"You saw another completely different outcome, didn't you?" You muffled against her chest, lingering your fingers through her back.

"Yes," she shortly replied. She reaccommodated herself better in your arms.

You also did, holding her even tighter. "So that's why you shape-shifted," you hummed tiredly. "I would've loved to, but I need to sleep."

"I know," she answered quietly once more.

"Sucks," you added, then you moved yourself up to her neck. "But there will be more times, won't there?"

You felt her smile against your head. "Sure," she softly kissed your crown.

Again in the living room, Amethyst shed a single tear at the scene she just witnessed. "Wow."
