Nolan and Analeigh had decided to wait until the weekend to start her training, since she just started school, and was getting some work to catch her up. They also agreed it would just be them two for now, but the moment Jackson found out (by reading their minds at lunch), he demanded he also be there. He was the most experienced out of the eight of them, and he felt he could bring the most to the table when teaching her how to control her powers.
Nolan and Analeigh stood outside of the abandoned house, waiting for Jackson to arrive. He had texted Nolan saying he was stuck in traffic but to wait on them, so they did. Well, kind of.
Analeigh and Nolan were speaking to each other in their minds. Analeigh thoughts would sometimes fade out of Nolan's mind and vice versa, but the more they kept practicing the stronger she got, and the more the two of them could understand of each other.
Jackson finally arrived about ten minutes later, and ushered them in the house. Much to Analeigh's surprise the place wasn't dirty. It was clean, and had furniture and books scattered the tables.
"Welcome to the hideout, Analeigh. You're welcome here whenever you feel like, though I'd be careful. I know Emma and Jones here come a lot to do things." Jackson spoke, causing Nolan to burst out laughing. Analeigh glared at the laughing boy, causing him to stop.
"So what are we starting with today?" Analeigh asked, and Jackson smiled, and Nolan cringed.
"You're going to control Nolan's mind." Analeigh looked between the two boys, who had quite opposite emotions showing on their faces. She gulped, before shaking her head no. "And why not?" Jackson asked, taking a step towards her. She glanced at Nolan who looked scared.
Just do it. I don't care. Analeigh heard him say, and she turned her attention back to Jackson who smiled even wider.
"Now that I know you're going to do it. I'll explain exactly what you need to do. Analeigh, if you don't do this right, you both could be in a lot of pain, so I need you to really listen to what I have to say." She nodded and he grabbed a book off the table, flipping it open, and continuing. "Here it says you first need to be able to get inside his mind. Which should be easy for you since you guys already communicate with each other." He glanced between the two who were staring at each other fondly. "Nolan you may want to sit down for this." The boy nodded, and Analeigh turned to Jackson, and asked what she needed to do.
"It's simple, you need to focus on his thoughts, like you do when you're trying to hear him. Do that, and nod when you're locked in on them." Her watched as Analeigh nodded to herself, taking deep breathes before closing her eyes. You could see the focus on her face as she tried to capture the thoughts in her own mind. A minute or two later she nodded, and Jackson looked at the book to see what was next.
"Okay so now you need to try to find his actual memories, you need to imagine yourself going deeper in. Imagine it, and tell me when you've found them." Analeigh nodded again, and focused harder. Her hands were in tight balls on each side of her, and she seemed solid in her stance.
"Oh my god. I did it. I'm in." Jackson looked up smiling, and Nolan seemed very tired, eyes drooping.
"Analeigh, stop." Jackson spoke, and the girl opened her eyes, a huge smile on her face, until she noticed Nolan.
"What did I do to him, Jackson?" She yelled, running to the boys side, causing Nolan to lazily smile at her.
"He's fine, give him a few minutes and he'll be back to normal." Jackson said, taking a seat in a chair across from the two, watching as Analeigh tried to help Nolan.
In a few minutes, Nolan was back to normal like Jackson said, and he encouraged Analeigh to try the next step. She was weary to continue, but Nolan urged her on, and the three of them took their previous positions.
"Analeigh, I need you to do exactly what you do before." She glanced towards him, and he smiled. "Don't worry about him. You're not going to kill him, I promise." She glanced back at Nolan, who smiled. Her eyes closed, and Nolan immediately starting looking extremely tired again.
"Okay, what do I do next?" Jackson grabbed the book, reading down the page. He glanced between the two, before saying what she needs to do next.
"You need to force yourself even farther, and then tell him to do something, and we will see if he does it." Analeigh nodded, and focused again on Nolan. Jackson watched the two, hoping to see Nolan do something. After a minute, or two, Jackson asked Analeigh if she had done anything, and she nodded, and then Nolan stood up. His eyes were shut, and he walked to Analeigh, who opened her eyes, looking at Jackson and smiling. His eyes lit up, and walked towards his friends.
"Okay, Analeigh, get out of his mind." Analeigh closed her eyes again, and soon Nolan's eyes opened slightly, and he smiled, realizing she had done it. He pulled the girl into his arms, hugging her tight.
"I'm so proud of you." He whispered, and she thanked him.
"Good job, Analeigh. We'll meet next weekend for more practice. I don't wont to wear you two out." Jackson said, patting her on the back and leaving. Nolan and her walked out to his car, getting in, since he drove her there.
"Hey Nolan, I know there's kind of no point to it, but could I get your number?" The boy smiled, and nodded, reaching his hand out for her phone. He quickly put his contact in, and she thanked him.
The two sat in silence on the way to Analeigh's house, both a little tired from all they had just went through.
When they finally pulled into Analeigh's driveway, she unbuckled her seatbelt, and opened her door before quickly leaning over and giving Nolan a kiss on the check. He looked at her in shock, but she just smiled, and muttered a thank you, before getting out and running inside.
