"Wait, you were best friends with the guy who just tried to attack me and kill me all because i'm a future?! Nolan, he knew about all of us, did you tell him?! Is that how he knew?" Nolan cringed, as Analeigh screamed at him, questioning him. He was shocked at hearing Wade wanted to kill Analeigh, and the fact that he was the reason Wade knows about them.
"Okay, I wouldn't say I told him." Analeigh turned to face Nolan, eyes full of anger.
"What did you do then?" and Nolan smiled, before motioning Analeigh to look back at the road. This only caused her to get angrier. How could he smile like everything is fine?
"It's kind of a long story, but Jackson and I used our powers against him." Analeigh shook her head, chuckling bitterly. "What's so funny?"
"So did I." Analeigh and Nolan made eye contact for a second, before she turned her attention back to the road. Neither of the two spoke until they made it to the hideout. It was an awkward silence filled with tension of not wanting to say what's on their minds, afraid to upset the other anymore. The moment they arrived Analeigh couldn't hold back any longer and blurted out the question on her mind.
"Why did you guys use your powers against him? What did he do?" Nolan got out of the car, motioning for Analeigh to follow, which she did.
"So, we grew up the best of friends because our parents were good friends. We were inseparable, constantly at each other's houses." the pair walked into the house, taking a seat on one of the couches. "When I was 14, I realized something was different about me, and I went to my mom who, of course, told me about futures, and quickly introduced me to Jackson." Analeigh placed her small hand on Nolan'g leg, trying to comfort him as his thoughts were going crazy, despite his calm demeanor. He forced a smile and continued. "My mom urged me to hang out with Jackson more, so we could figure out more about our powers and each other. I mean we were going have to spend most of our life together in some way or another."
"Wade felt betrayed didn't he? You just stopped hanging out with him, to hang out with this guy you had just met." Nolan nodded, and drooped his head into his hands, Analeigh rubbed his back, comforting him as he continued.
"I honestly feel so horrible about it, I wish I would've had the chance to explain what was going on before Wade blew up and tried to fight me and Jackson. Jackson had come over for us to practice reading each others mind, and halfway through the practice Wade barged into the room. I vividly remember it. His face was red, and sweaty. His fists were in tight balls, and he just kept yelling at Jackson to get out. Jackson refused, and that angered Wade even more. He stepped forward and grabbed Jackson's collar, pulling him close. He was about to hit him when I stood up and begged him to stop." Nolan, sat back up straight, grabbing Analeigh's hand and holding it tightly.
"What happened next? Is this when you used your powers?" Analeigh asked, her eyes roaming over Nolan's face, before he nodded.
"He wouldn't let Jackson go, upset that the boy had stolen me from him, which I don't blame him about. It was true." Analeigh could see some tears forming in the boy's eyes, and she quickly pulled him into a hug. It was very awkward considering she was tiny, and he was much taller than her. He had to bend in the most uncomfortable for the hug to happen, considering they were still sitting. He didn't mind though, it felt nice to have her in his arms.
"Nolan, don't cry. It wasn't anything you could control. You did what your mom told you too, which was a smart choice. Jackson has turned out to be a much better friend than Wade." The boy smiled, and pulled back, wiping a few tears from his eyes.
"I guess I should finish telling you what happened." he chuckled sadly, returning his hand to Analeigh's. "I decided the only thing I could do was try to get Wade off of Jackson, and that's what I did. Just with my mind, and man, did Wade freak out. He was terrified, he looked at me before running out of my house. Ever since that day, he's been scared of me. It wasn't until a year or two after that when he left a note in my locker saying he knew what I was, and he knew that rest were also futures. I never thought much of it, thinking he would never try something, but apparently I was wrong. I'm so sorry. I basically caused this attack on you and I hate it." He ran his fingers through his hair, pulling at the ends. It saddened Analeigh to see him so distraught.
"What is going on?" Analeigh heard a girl ask, and turned around to find Jennette staring at her full of confusion. "What did you mean when you said Wade was on to us?" Analeigh sighed as the others filed in behind Jennette.
"He's some 'future slayer'. He said much like we're born into being a future, he's born into being a future hunter. I don't know how legit this is, but he was definitely trying to hurt me. He told me he knew we all were futures." Jackson was the only one who didn't seemed phased by the news.
"It's a thing, has been a thing as long as we've been around. Wade's known about us for awhile guys. I never thought he would try something. I wish I could've stopped this from happening, Analeigh." Jackson spoke sitting down, as the other copied his movements. Analeigh noticed, much like on the first day of school at the table, the pairs found each other. Emma was seated on Jones lap, her head cuddled up against his neck, as he rubbed her back, trying to calm her. Britt and Jennette sat together, holding hands tightly, while Britt's head laid on Jennette's shoulder. Garrett had sat on the arm rest of the chair Jackson was sitting in, his arm was thrown lazily over Jackson's shoulder, who had sat his arm on Garrett's thigh. And then there was her and Nolan. The two's hands were still intertwined, and she looked down at her hand and smiled, before looking up to find the group all looking at her for direction.
"So what's the next step? I take it Wade knows where all of you live, and I'm not staying here all night." She spoke, and they all glanced between each other, trying to think of a plan.
"We could always go to your house, he doesn't know where you live." Nolan suggested and everyone agreed.
"To my house then." Analeigh declared, standing up and pulling Nolan along, as the others followed them outside.
"It's not smart to use to cars." Jackson stated, before continuing. "Just teleport there." and suddenly everyone was gone from the abandoned house, and the now abandoned cars.
