Day 12: Toxin

Warning: Blood and mentions of it (but not too much detail)

*Light's POV*

When that Yellow Steve ran into the Orange Village saying that Sabre wanted to talk to me, I wasn't sure what to think. No one has seen him since he blew up the Rainbow Kingdom, but I can't help but hope my friend is still in there. The darkness must of really messed with his head.

That lead to me standing in the middle of the ruined Citadel, hoping that Sabre will truly be here and that there isn't some sort of trap. The Yellow Steve said he wanted me to come alone so against my better judgment, I did. I can not break what little trust he might still have, not while he's-

"Light?"

I recognise that voice and quickly turn around to see Sabre standing there. He actually came! Finally, I have the chance to talk some sense into him.

"Sabre, you asked me to meet you here alone, so I have. I know you probably feel confused because of the darkness but I you just let me take you to the Orange Village we can find you a Green Steve and help you."

I reach out my hand towards him and pray to Origin that he will take it. He looked a bit conflicted and confused, but he also seemed angry.

"Oh, I see. I ask to talk to you and you immediately start ranting about how I need to be fixed, like some broken weapon! Shadow was right..."

The last part of his sentence was muttered under his breath, but I was too focused on the rest of the sentence. That was not my intention. I just want him to get help.

"No wait, Sabre. That wasn't what I meant, I just-"

I was cut off when Sabre just hugged me, out of nowhere. I put my arms around him, confused but happy that he seems to of come to terms with my words and has accepted help.

But then I felt jab into my neck and realised in horror that he was injecting me with something. I quickly push him away out of instinct but it was too late. Whatever was in the syringe he's currently holding is in my bloodstream. 

"What did you just do? What did you just inject me with?!"

He looked at me with a cold expression.

"I'm sorry that you see me as something broken rather than a person, but I never asked to be your Catalyst! I never asked for any of this! It didn't have to end this way, Light. If only you had just decided to listen to me rather than make it all about yourself! The toxin will kill you in 24 hours, if you want to live I suggest you find a cure quickly."

And just like that he ran off into the rubble. I thought about following him for a moment but realised I had bigger issues at the moment. I hate to admit it but I'm shocked about this. Why would he even do this? I don't understand...

I try to walk away but I suddenly feel extremely weak and my legs give out on me. A coughing fit comes over me and I realise I'm coughing up my own blood. He must of injected me with some really strong toxin because that worked fast. Where did he even get it?

I shake the thoughts out of my head, those are questions for another time when I'm not in danger of joining the World Beyond. For now I focus my strength in standing up and getting back to the village.

Sabre was having doubts about being evil so Shadow suggested they have a talk while giving Sabre the toxin for when it inevitably goes wrong. Shadow shall not tell you where he got it and will take that secret to his grave.

Also, Light's fine, he got cured by some green steves.
