I heard a knock of my door. I looked at the girls so that they knew not to get up. I don't play that answering the door without an adult.
I peeped through the peephole and saw Jason pacing back and forth. When I opened the door, he walked in quickly. "I'm stressed. This is starting to get out of hand. You know what she did? The nerve..."
"Okay calm down. The girls are right here. I'm not sure this is an appropriate conversation to have in front of them."
"I really don't.."
"Yes you do care. Sit down. Calm down. Take a deep breath. Once you are calm we will have this conversation." I could tell the talk did not go as planned, however, I don't want him to say anything in front of the girls that he may regret later on.
"Kayla, listen. My girls are of age. They know what's going on. I'm not about to keep hiding personal conversations. Passion knows. I'm tired of doing this."
I stood in front of Jason and placed both my hands on his face. "Look at me. Take a deep breath. Don't do this in front of the girls. Please." I begged while gently stroking his face. "Please."
He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer. "I want this to end."
"I know you do. I do."
"Hey, Ro and I are going to go watch tv." Passion suggested with a smile. "Love you dad. Love you Kay Kay."
"We love you baby. Thank you." I smiled.
Soon as the door closed, Jason started talking.
"She's pregnant. She claims she's pregnant by me. We just had sex the other day. How is that even possible to know that you're pregnant?"
"That's what she said?"
"She is saying the divorce will have to wait due to being pregnant. I took it upon myself to record the conversation." Jason pulled out his phone. "Listen."
I was proud of him for remembering that step at least. He played the whole conversation.
"Wow. Whatever you do, do not delete it. Are you sure the baby isn't yours?" I asked.
"Can't be. She has been gaining weight. I just think she thinks I'm dumb enough to believe that the baby is mine. She has to be a few months. There's not even a possibility. You know I wouldn't deny a child."
"Wait, let me get this straight. She is claiming to be pregnant by you? That's ridiculous."
"I don't know what to do."
"Proceed with the divorce." I suggested. "Now that she's pregnant, you definitely have a divorce case against her. Just saying."
"You think so?"
"I know so. Matter of fact, Monday, you and I will personally talk to a lawyer friend that I know and present everything. I can guarantee you will have your divorce. In the meantime, don't tell her what you are working on. Let her think she's winning."
"Thank you again for being here."
"I'm always going to be here for you and the girls. Don't you forget that." I smiled truthfully and sincerely.
