A/N: I remember I was initially inspired to write this because of this one AJR song 'Come Hang Out' and I got to thinking a lot about my future. It's about getting caught up in 'making it' in the music world and kind of getting lost in your own daydreaming of making it, you forgot about your present day whereabouts.
and also just using songwriting as as a way to escape reality and to numb the pain. using writing songs as a form of self-reflection of how far you've come, cause writing songs is like a personal diary. music seems to be understand you so well, so you get so lost in the lyrics and melodies.
INTRO ( CHORUS ):
these days, i have my head in the clouds
it's getting hard to reach the ground
i can't seem to escape my whereabouts
oh, how i wish i were around
but i got my head in the clouds
i'm not coming down
i got my head in the clouds
1ST VERSE:
you must thinking
that my dreaming; it's crazy
i need to relocate these thoughts of mine
but how could i?
if afterwards, i'd still feel the spite
i haven't given up and i don't know why
i've put enough thought
in these thoughts of mine
PRE-CHORUS:
i think i know, but i don't
oh well, let's see where this trail goes
CHORUS:
these days, i have my head in the clouds
it's getting hard to reach the ground
i can't seem to escape my whereabouts
oh, how i wish i were around
but i got my head in the clouds
i'm not coming down
i got my head in the clouds
2ND VERSE:
we'll meet up later, i swear
and when i mean later
what i really mean is next year
and what i really need
is that music to my ears
no one's ever there
what if i disappear?
not that i ever would but
everyone i've loved is better off
they don't need me
and what i really need
is that music to my ears
( and maybe some coffee )
PRE-CHORUS:
i think i know, but i don't
oh well, let's see where this trail goes
CHORUS:
these days, i have my head in the clouds
it's getting hard to reach the ground
i can't seem to escape my whereabouts
oh, how i wish i were around
but i got my head in the clouds
i'm not coming down
i got my head in the clouds
BRIDGE:
i know, i know, it's time i "let this dream go"
focus on reality and not the lyrics in front of me
i'm missing everything, but you see, my best friend left me
and the only way to numb the pain is to write music everyday
write all about her, write about the best and the worst
and love that consists of the heartbreak that hurts
all those moments when i made it after all
OUTRO:
i never drowned in the waterfall
the waves might've left my system
but the sky is still blue, like what i feel inside
oh, what am i to do?
having my head in the clouds
is worth my while
i live to escape my issues
