From the moment our feet hit the ground after apparating to London, Xyla's mouth did not stop moving.
"What are you think of naming the baby? Do you think it's a boy or a girl? We could find out if you wanted. I really want a nephew. And I'm sure Fred would be happy if another boy was running around the house."
"I'm sure, boy or girl, they're going to be just like their father." I couldn't help but smile, thinking about a short Weasley running through the house, Dad and Uncle George running behind them.
"That's true. I've been talking to George about having children, but I just don't think he's ready yet. Which I can understand, I mean, I'm not either. I would have thought you would be ready either." And her rant continued as we walked down the avenue to the outlet mall, and into a weird baby store. I'd never stepped into one, but I wasn't too out of place. I'd grown a lot over the passed 3 months, and it wasn't something I was taking lightly.
I stopped Xyla before we walked into the doors. "I liked you a lot better when you didn't talk much."
Her face beat red and she shot me a shy smile. "Sorry, Ana." She grabbed my hand and immediately started looking at tiny clothes, which I didn't understand, because we didn't know what gender the baby was yet. But whatever Xyla wants, I guess. Today's her day.
I managed to wander off on my own into the toy department. I picked up a defective firetruck that was supposed to move and rolled my eyes. Stupid Muggle toys. From behind me I heard a small voice and spun around on my heel.
A curly, red-headed girl ran up to her mother and shook her pant leg. "Mummy, Mummy. Can I get this toy?" Her mom picked her up on her hip and bounced her up and down. "Sure, sweetie. Anything for my little princess."
A tear fell down my cheek before I could let it, and Xyla saw it without my knowing.
She wrapped her arm around my shoulders. "You're going to be a great mom, Ana."
I smiled a little, but I knew on the inside that that's exactly my problem. I'm not a mother figure at all.
"Come on, before the tears start falling faster," my best friend joked.
I rolled my eyes. "I'm not crying, Xyla. It's the...stupid hormones." Whew. Covered that one up fast.
"Right." Nothing goes past her. "Okay. Let's go get some lunch."
We walked out into the parking lot, where I was met with a strange turn of events.
Three things happened:
1) Kori (surely you remember Kori) rammed into my shoulder, almost knocking me on my ass. I could tell it was her by her bright red hair and tall stilettos on her feet.
I blinked. "Kori?"
She turned around, noticing someone said her name. She gave me one single glance and 2) continued walking.
Obviously, I couldn't be mistaken. I wasn't invisible.
Kori's my cousin. She was my best and only friend when I lived in Malfoy Manor, and she seemed to make things okay. She was sisters with Nympadora Tonks...that is, until she died at the Battle of Hogwarts. We hadn't talked since then and I sort of believed that she blamed me for the whole thing. Which...I guess part of it could be my fault...
Xyla looked at me. "What was that about?"
I raised an eyebrow at my cousin running across the street. I shrugged. "I have no idea."
All of a sudden, Xyla's mouth dropped open, surprised. "Ana. Your hair."
I gave her a snotty look. "What?" I mean, I know I'm not as attractive as normal, but she didn't have to point it out. I'm pregnant for Christ's sake.
She pointed to her hair, motioning for me to look at my own.
I glanced in a window, trying to get a good look at my reflection. Nothing seemed to be wrong with me until I patted the top of my head noticing that 3) all of my hair was gone.
My mouth dropped open, tears ready to fall.
My hair was literally the best thing about me and it had just disappeared.
I began growing furious. "Now, Ana. Don't freak out."
"GEORGE. FRED."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"YOU THINK THIS IS SOME KIND OF JOKE?!" I screamed at Xyla as I stormed into the joke shop.
She began giggling. "Well..."
I raised an eyebrow and she stopped laughing.
"C'mon Ana, you don't even know if it was them."
I blew my imaginary hair out of my face and huffed under my breath. "Yeah. Right. FRED WEASLEY. GET DOWN HERE NOW."
He began running down the stairs, a wide smile on his face, when all of a sudden he stopped, looking at me with complete fear.
"GEORGE WEASLEY!" he yelled for his brother.
George came bounding down the stairs, noticing my head. "Woah, Ana. I know you're pregnant and all but I don't think that's a good enough excuse to pull all your hair out," he joked. I wrapped my fist in his shirt and pushed him up against the counter.
"What the hell did you do to me?"
He started laughing. "What do you mean?"
I glared at him.
"However brilliant this may be-"
I could basically hear Xyla motioning for him to cut the act from behind me. I wrapped my fist tighter.
"Well?"
He stumbled with his words. "I-I-I-I.....Ana...."
Fred almost cut in before none other than Harry Potter walked into the shop.
"Hey, guys, we were in Diagon Alley and decided to stop- Woah." Harry stopped talking. "Ana."
"I know!" I yelled. "My hair is gone because of this twit." I pushed George harder against the counter.
"No, I mean, Ana. I didn't know you were a metamorphmagus."
I gave him a stupid look. "What?"
"Someone who can change-"
"No, I know what it is....It's just...I'm not."
Right then and there, everyone gasped. Fred ran his fingers through my fully grown hair and kissed my head.
I got quiet, and shot George an apologetic look. He shrugged and brushed it off. They were used to my sudden outbursts of anger.
"This is a very rare thing. I only read about it in books. I seriously only thought Teddy was the last metamorphmagus, but...then again it could be hereditary."
"Harry what are you talking about?" Fred asked.
He pulled up a seat. "I mean, I think Anabelle's baby may be a metamorphmagus."
"But that's impossible. Neither Fred nor Ana are one." Xyla cut in.
He shrugged. "Sure. But Tonks was. And so is Teddy. You guys are cousins. It could run in the family, just skipping a few generations."
I thought about this for awhile. "Wait. So you're telling me that this baby is controlling my whole body, doing whatever they please?"
Harry shrugged and nodded.
I put my head in my hands and rubbed at my eyes. "Because that seems perfectly logical." I rubbed my stomach. "You're going to give me a lot of trouble, huh?"
A/N:Sorry if this was stupid. I wanted to get another chapter up before the weekend. :)
