A Surprise Visit

A/N: Xyla in the sidebar. Enjoy. ^.^

I woke up the next morning in probably the worst mood ever. If it wasn’t for the fact that morning sickness had decided to kick in, then it was because Xyla got sick from eating too much ice cream yesterday night (typical) and Fred and George had decided to be more dimwitted than usual.

I know I told them that they don’t have to treat me like a nuisance just because I’m a little slow now, but that doesn’t mean they have to be annoying.

“Hey, Anabelle. Do you want to try this new candy-“

“No.”

“Oh come on-“

“Shut up.”

“Anniiie. Little Anabelle,” George cooed. I kind of wanted to hit him.

Fred looked at me with those horrifically gorgeous puppy dog eyes and I rolled mine at him. “Please don’t. I don’t feel well.”

George huffed loudly and annoyingly and slumped away. Fred on the other hand, kissed me on the lips (not a very smart idea on his part) and told me to go back to bed. But instead of doing that, I went into Xyla and George’s room and cuddled with my best friend, watching some stupid British sitcom about aliens and time-traveling. Luckily, they were having a marathon, so I got to lie in bed and watch TV for 10 hours straight.

When I thought that I felt well enough to get back up (Xyla still passed out), I walked out into the shop to see dozens of children running around, some with candy and others with arm-fulls of jokes and tricks.

Seamus Finnigan decided to stop by that day and was prancing around the shop, looking at the new tricks we put up on the shelves. He spotted me and smiled. We hadn’t seen each other since the Battle at Hogwarts. The smile and nod we gave each other was satisfying, as if to say “I’m okay.”

I found George in the front, handing out samples to all the little kids. He gives them the candy with a wide smile on his face, but when they find out they are being pranked, with big tongues, purple hair, etc., they’d get super pissed and kick him in the shin. But he always seemed to walk away sniggering. I watched this happen a few times before I joined in.

“Hey, kids. You wanna try this new flavor of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans?” I asked, grabbing a handful of magical beans from a bucket nearby. George saw and tried to keep a straight face.

They happily picked the green candies from my palm with blank expressions and put them hungrily in their mouths. Their faces quickly turned from interest to disgust in mere seconds. A loud laugh burst out from behind me and I couldn’t help but smile wide. A brown-haired girl’s eyebrows completely disappeared, caterpillars taking their place. One boy grew whiskers and stripes, as if he was part tiger. The other boy’s nose had grown longer and thicker, like an elephant’s trunk.

For some odd reason, I thought it was hilarious.

George patted me on the back and thanked me for making his day so much better, as if it wasn’t already okay. The children had disappeared long ago, leaving me and my best friend laughing hysterically at what just happened.

“That was probably one of the greatest things we have ever come up with!” George said in between laughs.

“Did you see their faces?” I replied, in between chuckles.

Fred came around at some point and tsked us. “You’re going to be a great role model for our child.”

I smiled even wider. God, that word. ‘Our…’ It just sent shivers up my spine.
