"Joss only has one last shot of vaccine left. His state will normalize after that." Luke says on the phone.

"Okay. When can I visit him?" I ask.

"In two weeks will be fine. He reminded me of you. It's too bad you can't meet him. Anyway, he liked the gift you sent." he says.

"Aww. Tell him that I love him. And... What is your plan after this? Can he resume his work in the Marine Corps? What about his future?" I ask.

"Surely. He'll be able to work as before. But it will take some time. As he's like this due to the mission, the military is under obligation to look after him till the end. So you don't have to worry about his safety and well-being," he says.

The conversation ends after a few words, and I sigh in relief. I keep my phone aside and walk toward the sliding window.

The clouds huddle in front of the sun, making the sky look gloomier. I watch through the window with a cup of coffee in my hands to keep my hands warm. The weather reports have said that the first snow will fall any time now.

I look at Bright, sleeping soundly on our bed after arriving home after a shift. Livyy, our little cat, is asleep in her cat tree as well. Now it's more than four hours since Bright fell asleep. As he looked exhausted, I decided not to wake him up.

It's been a month since I picked up Bright from the military camp. We spent the first few days lazing in our apartment. As the military arranged side jobs for the refugees of Cargo, Bright got a post as a barista while things settled out. I let him know that he doesn't have to do that job and can wait till he might be able to resume his post as a detective.

He said that since I was also working as a legal assistant during the day, he'd also have his shifts during the daytime. So we started working together. After a few days, Luke let me know that there was a chance I would be able to work in the military headquarters in the management section as I had finished all my training. So I started with the applications and interviews for it. Now that it's the weekend, we both have a holiday for some rest.

Bright stirs in his sleep and wakes up on alert. He looks around in confusion, only to see me at the end.

"Oh," he mumbles, rubbing the sleepiness off his eyes.

I keep my coffee on the bedside table and sit next to him, "Is your migraine okay?" I ask, sending my hand through his hair.

"Mmh, yeah. Totally. The meds worked," he mumbles, still a bit sleepy.

"Alrighty. You woke up right on time. Come on." I take his hand and gently pull him down with me toward the window. "The first snow is going to fall in a while," I say.
