Jason's boots crunched under the dirt roads, fully equipped with all of his gear and carrying his MK-11, he approached the last few carriages carrying off the last of Italica's citizens away.
Druilla followed by Jason's side, throughout her stubbornness to stay Jason denied every single request for her safety or his own.
Jason stopped at the last carriage, glancing to his right as Druilla stared at the carriage for a few seconds. "Go on, I'll be seeing you in a couple of days." Jason gave an assuring nod. He didn't know what would happen during the battle, but what mattered was that Druilla was safe.
Druilla shook her head repeatedly, refusing to step foot into the carriage before Jason quickly pulled her into a hug. "See you then."
Jason struggled to talk for a few seconds, it was the last words his father said to him before he died on his deployment. Struck by an IED, his coffin had to be closed during the funeral, he couldn't even see his father's face during his burial. "Of course you will."
Druilla took one last deep breath before boarding the carriage, being the very last person to board as the carriage slowly rolled off through the gates of Italica, making its way to Alnus Hill for refuge. As the carriage bounced along the dirt roads Jason watched the carriage ride away through the gates, giving one last nod to Druilla before walking away. He hadn't come all this way yet to just die, not yet.

The Empire's army was close to Italica, and JSDF scouts estimated that they would reach Italica at their pace in around 12 hours. By that time it would be 2000, meaning that the force was going to attack at night, or they would wait for dawn. If they tried to siege the forces more JSDF and U.S. Forces would arrive to break the siege, meaning the army had to attack while they could.
Claire and Markus walked inside the walls near the northern gate, overlooking the LAVs as the MAARS robot rolled along with the two fully equipped with an M240B machine gun and 4 M203 grenade launcher tubes.
A few of the marines and JSDF soldiers alike watched the robot curiously as it strolled around. Claire liked to think the robot might've looked cute if it weren't for the two heavy weapons that were attached to it.
She controlled the MAARS robot, letting it rest in sleep mode just inside the gates as she walked up the walls with Markus to meet up with Ryan and the rest of the team.
As the two walked up the walls overlooking the flooded fields of farmland, Markus decided to try and ease the tension. "Think I got a name for my baby." Markus gave a small chuckle as the two walked over to a small tower near the northern gate.
Claire turned around slightly with an amused smile, it was time that he finally figured out a name. "Spit it out, I need to make sure your child isn't going to get bullied with whatever name you choose." Claire walked backward, passing by a few U.S. Marines that spread themselves out along the walls next to Pina's soldiers.
