"Okay okay so your dad and his dad wanna do this merge of their companies?" Ace asked as he shoved a few more chips in his mouth, leaning back on the couch as he looked at Cora beside him.

Cora nodded as she ate a few chips herself from the tray balanced between them on the couch. "They don't think a contract is strong enough, both seem to hold family values very highly."

Ace nodded as his mind seemed to process the information. "So you and his son were meant to be getting hitched to make the merge stronger and shit?"

Cora nodded as she sighed and leant back into the cushions herself.

"Damn your old man is gonna freak." Ace seemed to find it slightly amusing.

Cora let out another sigh. "I don't think I can ever face my family again after this."

Ace scoffed as he seeming still laughed to himself. "Not if you're gonna pretend to have the Merrill surname too."

"What is with your surname? Is it just you and your uncle?"

Ace nodded as he ate a few more chips. "Mum died, dad fucked off somewhere, Uncle pretty much raised me but he always focused more on his business. Told me one day I'd be ready to take over."

"And apparently all you needed was a wife." Cora seemingly finished off the story.

Ace nodded as he pointed his finger up and down at her in her dress, a proud looking grin on his face.

"Got me one of them."

"We're not legally married remember, this is all make believe." Cora spoke trying to sound smart.

"Yeah I know, like when kids play 'mummys and daddys.'" Ace waved his hand dismissively.

"Well we're not playing mummys and daddys." Cora made sure to set that as she ate a few more chips.

"You reckon we could get some kid actor to play our kid?" Ace asked with a laugh as he continued to eat.

Cora turned to look at him as she raised her eyebrow. "You're joking right? Tell me you're joking."

Ace couldn't help but laugh as he nodded. "Nah if we're having a baby for this you can bet that little ass of yours I'm knocking you up."

Cora's mouth automatically dropped as she stared at him. This only caused Ace to laugh harder as he picked up a chip and half put it into her mouth.

"Chip in your mouth, baby in your belly. What else could you want from me?" He asked with a laugh.

Cora quickly ate the chip as her cheeks instantly began to darken.

"Silence?" She asked him, honestly not wanting him to continue winding her up.

Ace scoffed and shook his head as he slid further down the couch, tilting his head to look at her. A small pout came to his face as his eyes bore into hers.

"What are you looking at me like that for?" Cora asked with a small laugh as she looked down at him.

Ace just stayed silent, continuing to slightly pout at her. Cora laughed again.
