Chapter 11 - Little miss

*****

"So where did you go?" Connie asked as she got back into the car.

Ace shrugged as he remained silent.

"You going to tell me?" She asked as she went to buckle his seatbelt as he instantly began driving away.

"Ace I-"

"Fucks sake, what is it with you women always wanting to bloody talk?!" Ace groaned out. "I mean come on, is the only way to shut a woman up by putting your coc-"

"ACE!" Connie quickly exclaimed, covering her ears. "I'll shut up please! Just don't!"

Ace gave her a small smirk as he shuffled confidently in his seat, silently focusing on driving.

"Oi! Little miss!" Ace exclaimed as he walked in through his front door, pulling his jacket off as he half chucked it, aiming for one of the pegs and even though it missed, he blanked it.

"Lady!" Ace shouted as he walked into the living room, where Cora was laying on the couch, still wearing Eyeball's shirt but now with what looked to be Billy or Charlie's shorts.

"I thought I'm the one that gets to lounge watching TV while you clean the place up." He scoffed as he walked over to her, half nudging her with his hand.

Cora sat up, pulling her legs up to her chest so he could sit down. "I did clean the place up. Now I'm lying down."

"There's a present for you in the car." Ace mumbled as he pulled his cigarettes from his pocket, placing one behind his ear as he put another in his mouth and lit it. "Well multiple presents."

Cora instantly got up as she quickly went straight out the front door, not caring about the fact she was barefooted. Seeing nothing in the front seats or the back seat she walked around to the trunk.

Opening it up, there was a collection of different shopping bags, each one practically full. A small smile came to her face as she reached in one of them, feeling the fabrics of a lot of new clothes.

"Ace! I can't carry all these!" She called out, looking back at the house.

"Not my fucking problem!" Ace's voice called back out.

"Ace!" Cora's voice was a little harsher and firmer.

"Alright!" He was heard to be sighing heavily as he soon appeared grumbling out the door, walking over to her, his cigarette dangling from his lips.

Cora grinned up at him, yet as she was about to reply, they heard a couple across the road. Looking over they saw a woman calling out to her husband to bring in the bags of shopping. The husband grumbled as he leant into the car, pulling out the bags of groceries as the woman walked inside the house.

"I want a divorce." Ace muttered under his breath as he reached into the trunk, beginning to grab the bags of clothes.

Cora simply laughed as she watched him continue to carry the bags inside.

"You gonna start trying them on?" Ace asked as she followed him in.

Cora shrugged as Ace put the first load of bags on the floor of the living room, before heading back out to get the next load of shopping bags.

"How much did Connie fucking get?" Ace grumbled under his breath as he dumped the second load down and looked at all the clothing bags.

"This is all for me?" Cora asked as she knelt down on the floor, pulling up a bag.

Ace nodded as he walked around to the couch, flopping down as he stretched out. He continued to comfortable smoke as he gestured down at them.

"Try them on then."

Cora nodded as she pulled out the first item she could, standing up and holding it up. It was a beige long dress with full sleeves and a high neckline.

"Is that a dress or a bloody robe?" Ace scoffed out as looked it up and down. "What the hell am I meant to look at if you're wearing that?!"

Cora turned to look down at him blankly. "I'm going to go try it on, stay there." She grumbled as she walked out into the hallway to quickly try on the dress.

"Hurry up!" Ace called out as he picked up the TV remote and began flicking through the channels, lightly smoking on the cigarette in his mouth.

Cora soon walked back in as Ace turned to look her up and down. Cora's skin was completely covered, the neckline went all the way up her neck, the sleeves completely went all the way to her wrists and the dress ended just above her ankles.

Ace simply shook his head as he sat up on the couch, taking the cigarette from his mouth as he put it in the ashtray on the table in front of him.

"Well that settles it." Ace mumbled as he stubbed his cigarette out. "I ain't letting you wear Connie's clothes again."

"Connie?" Cora asked as Ace seemed to ignore her, standing up.

"I wonder if Betsy's got some spares..."

"Ace please stop saying different girls names." Cora mumbled.

"Oh please, I ain't banging Connie. She's a catholic and Billy's been trying to get his dick wet in that for like three years." Ace mumbled as he paced slightly in the living room, not even willing to check the other bags as he realised what a stupid idea it was to get Connie to pick out clothes for Cora.

Cora had to take a couple of seconds to process it, Ace truly had a way with words.

"What about Betsy?" She asked curiously as she looked up at him.

Ace was silent. Cora was silent. The pair stared at each other blankly.

"If you're waiting for me to say I haven't fucked Betsy, we're gonna be here for a while." Ace mumbled with a shrug.

Cora grimaced. "Oh Ace." She grumbled as she picked up the bags and went to leave the room, to head up to her room.

"What?" Ace called out to her. "She's easy and that's how I like them!"

Cora didn't answer as he sighed, walking to the doorway to call out again.

"I'm sorry!" He shouted out. "I won't fuck her again though if that makes you feel better!"

Once more Cora didn't answer as Ace groaned. "Fucking wives, don't know why men get married." He grumbled again as he walked into the kitchen.
