Eventually the sun sunk down below the earth and my first day as an ally to the Axis was through. Gilbert and I had worked the entire afternoon on our attack plans and I was out of energy having been awake the entirety of the night before.
"Jou'll be sleeping in mein room." Gil told me when I voiced my tiredness. "I'll have to keep un eye on jou." But I could hear the scripted tone of his voice. He honestly didn't believe I needed to be watched over.
I nodded.
So there I was, sitting on the stone floor of Gilbert's bedroom, Kuma at my side licking his paw and wipe it on his face like a cat while Gil was off looking for extra blankets.
"Vill zhis be enough?" Gilbert's voice was muffled by the armful of blankets he had over his face.
"Yeah. Thanks." I giggled as he dropped them at my knees.
He stared at me for a moment.
"What is it?" I asked, snapping him out of his reverie.
"Oh nozing. I vas just zhinking." His face flushed and I lifted an eyebrow.
"You're blushing again." I pointed out.
Gilbert huffed and turned around.
"Did jou bring pyjamas?" He asked. His voice was louder than normal.
"Yeah. One of my beavers brought some stuff over from my old base earlier." I held up the grocery bag slumped against Kuma's side.
"Vell, I'm going to get changed, und you should too."
I nodded and watched him leave.
