"Dude, where have you been?" The diner on the south side of town was a favourite of my family's. Alfred, Arthur, Francis, and I would spend every Sunday morning there for breakfast.
I assumed that they would be here that Sunday too.
I had been with the Axis for a few days now, planning this attack. I actually liked this routine, waking up early to make everybody surprise pancakes, taking care of Lovino and the other patients throughout the day, planning tactics in the afternoon, and then waiting for Gil to start crying at night so I had an excuse to curl up next to him.
I knew it was a weird thing to do. Get ahold of yourself Mathew.
But Gil noticed me.
Gil genuinely cared about me. I wasn't just a person only seen when I was needed. I was a valued member of the team.
"So you noticed, huh?" I started to put on my cold face for Alfred, but then I remembered what Gil told me.
Be polite.
I usually had no problem with politeness, but at the moment I was peeved at my brother.
"Of course I noticed. Arthur and Francis were worried sick."
"They were?" I felt guilt twisting at my stomach. I was so sorry.
"Of course they were. And I was too. What the heck happened, man?"
"I need you to help me with something." I said,, avoiding the question.
"Sure dude. What is it?"
"Just follow me." I took his wrist and started to pull him toward the exit. He pulled back.
"Shouldn't we tell Arthur and-"
"It'll only take a second. Come on eh." I cut him off, pulling harder. Alfred was way stronger than me, if I was going to lead him somewhere it had to be by his own will.
"A second for what?"
I didn't answer him. I didn't need to. I had already lead him outside.
"Now!" I shouted.
Antonio, Roderich, and Elizabetta jumped out of their stance just outside the diner and grabbed my brother. They placed a chloroform covered cloth over his mouth and soon he had fallen limp.
