Chapter 13: Meet my girlfriend
"Invitation to introduce you as my girlfriend".
Those words keep playing back in my mind as a music box. As he said those words my heart beat fast. Am I nervous? Am I prepared for this? I signed the contract so I should be.
I opened the envelope where the invitation was. I thought, it was just dinner with them or coming over to their house but he said it was an event where all of his Dad's connections were there.
I remember what we had talked about yesterday.
"Invitation to introduce you as my girlfriend".
"Seryoso ka ba?". Sagot ko bigla.
"What do you think, am I not?". He spat back. Oh' no this can't be!
Uncle told me that I should be limited to expose myself, I don't know why- but now, wait-
"How?". I asked.
"What?".
"I mean, sa paanong paraan ako ipapakilala?".Hindi pwedeng marami tao Lalo na kapag nasa taas.
"I don't know. All I knew was, it was an event for the company". Sagot nito na Lalong nagpakaba sa akin.
Masama to' paano ko to tatakasan?
"So, Hindi mo alam kung paano mo ako ipapakilala?". Pareho kaming natahimik sa tinanong ko. Parang isang palaisipan pa sa kanya kung paano ako ipapakilala, talaga ba? Hindi niya alam?
"Paano nga ba?". Natampal ko ang noo ko sa sinabi niya.
Wala na talagang pag-asa ang taong ito!
"Why does it have to be that way?". I asked. I know that he's family have connections pero pwede namang simpleng pagpapakilala lang Diba?
"Do you remember why we have to do this? Maybe Dad wants to show them about arranged marriage. Her Dad is there".
"About the time and date?".
"It's on the invitation-".
"What invitation?".
Our conversation ended when Andi came. Buti nga ngayon nakaalis na siya kaya nakahinga na ako ng maluwag.
Inihanda ko na ang mga gamit ko para pumasok, we don't have morning class but we do have afternoon class.
As I looked at the invitation, ito ang nakalagay:
You're invited to our Annual Corporate Party!
Date: October 9, 20xx
Time: 8pm
Venue: The Peninsula Manila
Join us for an evening of celebration, networking, and fun as we toast to our successes and look forward to the future.
Looking forward to celebrating with you!
Mga ilang segundo ko rin siguro itong tinitigan. Is this real? Peninsula Manila?! Lumakas agad ang kalabog ng dibdib ko, ano na naman kaya ang mangyayari?
Ngayong darating na sabado ito gaganapin, Hindi ko pa alam kung anong gagawin ko sa araw na iyon.
I keep the invitation inside my bag, hangga't mamari mas maganda ng dala ko ito baka Kasi kapag iniwan ko sa room or Hindi ko dala, may makakita. Hindi ko na alam kung paano pa ipapaliwanag sa iba.
