Ravenna’s eyelids were so heavy, and she recovered slowly. For a while, she thought she was dreaming, even though she was already in reality. She was unable to piece together the events that she only dimly remembered. Her whole body ached, she couldn’t move her arms or legs.

The girl felt as though a long time had passed before she could finally make out the images surrounding her: the wooden floor, the door nearby, and the window that let in a meagre amount of light. After waking up, Ravenna drifted back into a light sleep, but just as quickly, the door cracked open and someone walked in. The light was so bright that she couldn’t see, but she instantly recognised the voice.

“Are you still alive?”

It was Roger. But where is he from? The girl attempted to recall when and how she met him, but in vain. The memory worked so hard, the head ached.

“Where am I?” she asked quietly.

“It doesn’t matter, you’ll soon find yourself where you belong,” he retorted angrily. “Why do you always have to interfere where you don’t need to?”

“What do you mean?” Ravenna asked, perplexed.

“You were with Felicia?”

“What does this have to do with you?”

“Don’t ask, I’m the one asking questions,” Roger snapped. “Have you been with Felicia?”

The girl thought for a second about what to answer, although she felt that she couldn’t betray her.

“I don’t know any Felicia.”

“I know you’re lying. It was difficult to follow you when your powers didn’t always work, but I also found Felicia when she was with you.”

“You knew I’d lie,” Ravenna hissed. “Then why are you asking?”

Roger angrily lifted her from the floor and looked her straight in the eyes. The girl made an effort to conceal her dread. She had to endure his insults for so long, she no longer wanted to be humiliated by him, only this time no one could save her; she had to do it on her own.

“I’ve been dying to know what you’re like for a long time,” Roger smiled. “Who’s hiding behind that innocent girl with the demon inside of her? What will happen when that demon makes its appearance? Will it kill me? Do I have to kill it first? How much power can a weak body like yours handle? Can’t it destroy you?”

Even though Ravenna was unintentionally shocked by his hateful voice, Roger continued to hold her in his steel-like arms.

“What a coincidence, isn’t it?” the man said before waiting for her response. “You ran away from home and you met Felicia, right? You think I don’t know what’s going on here?”

“I don’t understand what you mean.”

Ravenna’s voice trembled despite her best efforts to hide her anxiety, and Roger seemed to take the greatest pleasure in it. Dropping her to the floor, he circled around her like a predator around its prey.

“Bound and helpless, that’s what you look like now,” he sneered. “That’s the reason Lynn didn’t kill you, but don’t think I’ll spare you knowing who you really are. I know why you met Felicia—Lynn sent you to her. She knew where she was the whole time, she just lied to me, but now everything’s in my hands, I outsmarted both of you.”
