Ravenna opened her eyes to find herself in the real world rather than a nightmare. She lay there for a minute, believing that she was still living with Lynn, but after realising that she wasn’t where she had imagined herself to be, the girl abruptly sat up and looked around. At that moment, Neptune entered the room.

“Ravenna!” he rejoiced. “I was so worried, you lay unconscious for four days.”

“Four days?” she exclaimed. “What happened?”

“You don’t remember, do you?”

“Not really,” she shrugged, but winced in pain as she felt the wound on her shoulder. “All I know is that Roger kidnapped me.”

“Well...” the boy continued, unable to come up with a coherent explanation. “You got really mad at him and used your powers to save me.”

“I used my powers?”

“Yes, but you didn’t control them and I got hurt too. But nothing serious happened to me, just a few scratches,” he smiled. “When I woke up, Roger and Mark were unconscious, so I got you out of the forest as fast as I could. Do you remember what you did to them?”

“No, nothing at all,” Ravenna shook her head. “Do you think... that I...”

“Don’t worry, they’re alive, but they probably want your death even more,” the boy timidly sat on the edge of the bed. “There is nothing to be afraid of, you are not alone.”

“But they can track me by energy,” she gasped. “My powers have been unleashed, and I don’t know how to control them yet. I can’t suppress them the way you can.”

“I know, but while you were unconscious, I found a spell that can suppress energy. No one can sense you now, but the spell is temporary, so I have to re-spell you every day.”

“Thank you for trying so hard for me,” upset, the girl looked out the window, where the golden rays of the sun fell. “But how did you escape from my father? After all, you were captured, I saw how that man took you away.”

“Lynn and Gordon helped me. If it wasn’t for them, I have no idea where I would be right now.”

“Did you bring me back to the Crystal Palace?”

“No, we’re just hiding nearby. We had to go back to the Fishermen’s Village because we need to find something more to be finally ready. Also, by hiding the energy, we will try to deceive Tasdar and travel to the gate of the World of Absence through another path that he is unaware of, because he didn’t block it.”

“Really?”

“Yes, he expects us to go through the tunnel of the Crystal Palace, the one covered with stones. That’s why it was blocked.”

“The entrance to the World of Absence is in the tunnel?”

“Yes, I was amazed by that myself.”

“But just because we go through some other entrance doesn’t mean that Tasdar will think we gave up and won’t wait for us at the gates of the World of Absence, right?”

“Obviously, but at least he won’t interfere while we travel. Maybe we’ll get to the gate before he realises we’ve tricked him,” the boy grinned again. “If it wasn’t for Gordon, we wouldn’t have the second part of the map, where that secret path is indicated. Phoebus wanted to take us there the whole time.”
