I stare at the man standing on stage, noticing the resemblance between the two. No wonder he looked familiar...

"Come on up here, Rhys." He waves him up, looking excited.

I glance at Rhys. He looks ready to kill. Before he can take a step forward, I stop him by his shoulder. "Rhys, don't cause a scene. You said the same thing with me and Lindsey. We're already in the papers, we don't need another scandal."

He exhales. "I'm fine." But he doesn't sound it. He walks to the stage, my hand dropping.

Kasey runs up to me, breathing heavily. "What's he doing?"

"Hopefully not ruining our reputation even more than it is." I whisper.

I watch as he walks up onto the stage, patting him on the shoulder, but I notice that his father winces ever so slightly.

He steps up to the mic. "Thank you for that introduction." He smiles at the crowd. "I'd like to thank everybody for coming out tonight and supporting the children's foundation, as well as the condolences sent our way due to the incidents we have been in here lately. I want you all to know I appreciate your concerns and I want to reassure you that there won't be any other scandals like these in the near future. Thank you." He smiles before walking away without a single glance to the man beside him.

He stalks directly toward me, and as he reaches me, he grabs my arm, making me yelp as he all but drags me to the door.

"Rhys, where are we going?"

He doesn't answer me as he drags me out to the black, tinted SUV. He opens the door for me. "Get in."

"Tell me what's going on." I demand.

"We're leaving."

"Why?"

"Because everywhere my father goes, something goes terribly, terribly wrong. If something doesn't go his way, he finds a way to blame someone else. If we get out of here, he won't be able to blame us for anything." He explains. "Now get in the car."

I'm tempted to argue, but if what he says is true, I don't want to end up in the crossfire.

I sigh, using the hand he lends to me to climb into the car. He climbs in right after me, tapping my thigh to tell me to move.

I scoot over, but before we can leave, Kasey runs up to the door. Rhys rolls down the window and he reaches inside. "I believe this is yours?"

"Thank you." I take my handbag from his outstretched hand.

He nods, then turns to Rhys. "I didn't know he was going to be here tonight."

"Neither did I." He exhales.

"Get home safe. I'll make sure Mason takes care of Maya."

"Thanks, Kasey." I smile at him.

"Yep." He taps on the top of the car before he jogs back to the ballroom.
