(The Next Day…)
Dre quickly grabbed his skateboard and rode it straight to Han’s house. Once he got there, Han began Dre’s training. He made him start by hanging his coat up, putting it on, and repeating the same pattern. Dre came home exhausted and hung up his jacket before going to his bedroom. For the next couple of days, Han made Dre did the same things he learned on the first day and to Dre… it was getting frustrating. The next day at school, Dre was walking through the hallway when suddenly, he felt a hand grab his shoulder. He turns around and sees that the hand belonged to Meiying. "Dre. I heard you were fighting at the tournament. Is that true?" She asked, concerned. “I am. Where did you hear that from?” Dre asked, confused. “Everyone in school knows about it. I hope you have a very good teacher.” Meiying said, grabbing his hand. “Yeah, me too. He's a maintenance man.” Dre said. The two keep walking down the hallway and Meiying gets Dre’s attention again. “Dre, are you going to the Shi Vi festival?” She asked. “Yeah. My mom just got tickets for it. Are you going to be there?” Dre asked. “I am. Could we meet there? Behind the puppet booth?” Meiying asked, blushing. “Yeah. I'll meet you there.” He replied. The two went to their separate classes and Dre reminded himself that he had to go back to Han’s place to continue his “training”.
Dre picked up from where he left off and did the same jacket on, jacket off stuff. Suddenly, Dre got very upset and snapped at Han. “This is stupid, Mr. Han! I’ve done the same thing a thousand times and I’m learning nothing. I’m done. You know you only have one student? Because you don’t know kung fu!” Dre disrespected Han out of frustration. “Xiao Dre!” Han said, sternly. Dre stops in his tracks and looks back at his teacher. “Come here.” Han told him and Dre obeyed. He told him to put his jacket on and Dre did so. Before he fully put it on, Han swiped it and threw it to the floor. He told him to put it on once more but this time without the actual jacket. Dre does the first movement and Han catches his arm. Han directs Dre to continue the movements and starts making him pick up the jacket. One by ducking while Han throws his leg over him and the other by making the boy block his kick. Suddenly, Dre does all the moves at once and becomes shocked at what he just did. He was doing it. He was learning real kung fu. “Kung Fu lives in everything we do, Xiao Dre. It lives in how we put on the jacket. How we take off the jacket. It lives in how we treat people. Everything is Kung Fu.” Han told his student before heading back inside. Dre looked at the door and back at his hands.

Sherry, Dre and Han all went to the Shi Vi festival and were having a great time so far. Dre said he had to go to the bathroom but the truth was that he was really going to see Meiying. He ran to the puppet booth and saw Meiying. Her hair was curled and she was wearing a turquoise dress. Dre was lost for words on how beautiful she was. She grabbed his hand and led him behind the booth. While the performers were putting the show on, Meiying turned her attention to Dre. “Dre. I hope that you’re going to be okay. With the tournament coming up, I am really concerned for you.” Meiying admitted. “It’ll be fine. Even if I win or lose, that’s not going to bring me down.” Dre said, smiling at her. Suddenly, Meiying slowly grabs Dre’s hand and looks into his eyes. “I believe that and I believe you.” Meiying smiled. They both go into silence and lean toward each other, then share a kiss.

Today was a very special day for Dre Parker. Han was taking him to a very special location that meant a lot to him and his kung fu bloodline. They finally arrive and Dre looks up the mountain and sees stone stairs leading up to a temple. They walk up to the temple and it really wears Dre out. The first thing Dre sees when they enter the temple is monks doing Kung Fu and meditation. As they almost made it to the highest part of the temple, Dre looks outside and sees a woman on a ledge with a snake in front of her. He became very interested once he saw the woman and snake mimicking each other. Dre runs up back to Han. There was a bowl of water with a yin yang symbol at the bottom. “My father brought me here. When I was your age. You drink from this water, nothing can defeat you.” Han said, talking about the water in the fountain. Dre sticks his head in and drinks from the fountain. Dre lifts his head up, sighing with relief. “That’s the best water I have ever tasted. Did you see that lady with the snake? She was really copying that snake.” Dre said, really intrigued by what he just witnessed. “You do not look closely enough, Xiao Dre. The snake was copying the woman. The snake saw its reflection in the woman and copied her.” Han told his student. Dre was even more interested in the whole snake thing and couldn’t stop thinking about it. “Xiao Dre, there is something VERY important I have to tell you. But first we must be on our way back.” Han said, seriously before leaving with his student.
