In Early 1981, Scovil arrived at Kim Sung-Yung's temple and met up with John Kreese, Terry Silver, Paul Dugan and Ponytail. Kim Sung-Yung circles around his students as they sparred. Scovil and Paul Dugan were the ones sparring, while the other three were sitting crisscrossed on the sidelines. The Tang Soo-Do master's granddaughter, Kim Da-Eun, was now old enough to observe to fighting matches as she was to soon run the dojo and continue Kim Sung-Yung's legacy. Paul Dugan throws three front kicks toward his opponent and Scovil Dodges them, catching the third one. He throws him to the ground and and finishes him off by slamming his right foot into his chest.

Scovil turns to Kim Sung-Yung and bows to his master. "Well done my student. You showed no mercy and defeated your enemy with no hesitation. That is all for today. Dismissed." Kim Sung-Yung said before walking off, leaving his students and Kim Da-Eun following him from behind. Scovil helped Paul Dugan up and the other's came up and showed him how proud they were of him. "You're getting even better with Master Kim's lessons. Great job man." Ponytail praised his friend. "Thanks guys. I'm just glad that you guys brought me here to train. Rather than George Turner." Scovil chuckled, making the other four laugh in agreement to that one.

John Kreese, Terry Silver, Paul Dugan, Ponytail and Scovil all did some late night sparring sessions and the four friends explained to Scovil about the Karate War that's been happening between Kim Sung-Yung's dojo and the Miyagi-Do Karate dojo. After explaining it all, Scovil was all for it. He was going to help his allies in any way he could to help them win. Especially Kim Sung-Yung. He vowed to keep training and training before he could help them. Even if it took him most of his life to get better. The Way of the Fist was his home.
