(1979…)

In Encino Hills, California, there was a boy who had blonde hair and lived in a very big mansion. His name was Johnny Lawrence. He played the music on his tape recorder and rode his bike straight into town. While riding, he stops in front of a particular building that had a cobra snake for the logo. It was the Cobra Kai Karate dojo. He saw the class running and walked into the dojo. John Kreese saw Johnny and paused his class. “What can I do for you?” he asked. “I’m sorry. I was just looking.” Johnny said and turned to leave. “Wait!” John Kreese stopped him. Johnny turned back around. “Do you want to be a champion in my dojo?” he asked the boy. Johnny was getting excited. “Yes, sir.” responded. “Welcome to Cobra Kai.” John Kreese welcomed the boy.

(1980…)

John Kreese, Terry Silver, Paul Dugan and Ponytail were back at the Way of the Fist dojo, training under Kim Sung-Yung’s supervision. John Kreese and Terry Silver were in a sparring match, while Paul Dugan and Ponytail were sitting on their knees, watching. Behind the huge vases was a little girl, wearing pink. She was Kim Sung-Yung’s granddaughter, Kim Da-Eun. In the sparring match, Terry Silver sends a front kick at John Kreese but fails as his friend catches his leg and throws him to the ground. Kim Da-Eun watched the fight closely. “Strike!” Kim Sung-Yung ordered. John Kreese jabs Terry Silver in the chest, finishing him off. “Again!” Kim Sung-Yung also ordered. “Good one, Johnny. Good one.” Terry Silver said before sweeping John Kreese off his feet. He stands up and tries to stomp on him multiple times but John Kreese quickly stood up and blocked Terry Silver’s right knee and almost accidently knocked over the giant vases behind him. Kim Da-Eun caught them before they fell. Before Kim Sung-Yung could see his granddaughter, John Kreese kicked a vase over, giving Kim Da-Eun enough time to hide. “Sorry Master Kim. My fault.” he apologized. “Again!” Kim Sung-Yung ordered again. Before the two spared again, John Kreese winked at Kim Da-Eun, making her smile.

After a long day of training, John Kreese, Paul Dugan and Ponytail all waited by the dojo pond, waiting for Terry Silver. He finally arrived in a suit. The three chuckle at the sight they were seeing. “Nice ascot. I guess business really is booming, huh?” John Kreese asked. “I actually wanted to talk to you about that.” Terry Silver said. “Well if you're offering me a board seat, I’ll pass. My focus is on the dojo.” John Kreese said, seriously. Terry Silver sat down next to his friend. “I know. That’s why I bought it for you.” Terry Silver said, surprising his three war buddies. “Terry. Thank you. I’ll still pay rent, I swear.” John Kreese said. “Don’t thank me. You deserve it. Cobra Kai is the best dojo in the Valley.” Terry Silver told him. “Don’t forget the Alpha Elite, Terrance.” Paul Dugan added, reminding him of his dojo. “That too. But we can all do better than the Valley.” Terry Silver said, making his friends curious. “What do you mean, Twig?” Ponytail asked.

“Remember when Johnny told us about the All Valley tournament? I’m about to do us all one better.” Terry Silver pulls out an ad magazine from his jacket and shows it all to his friends. “It’s called the Sekai Taikai. The top karate tournament in the world. Barely anybody in the states knows about it but with the resources I have now, we can make this the super bowl of karate. If we win, Cobra Kai and Alpha Elite will be everywhere. Our way will be THE way.” Terry Silver proposed. “This is… perfect. We need to enter. But first we need to make sure our students are trained and ready.” John Kreese said. “And to make sure Miyagi-Do doesn’t stand in our way too.” Paul Dugan added. “Agreed.” Ponytail said for all of them. When the sun set in the sky, the four students of Kim Sung-Yung vowed to continue their master’s legacy across the world and prepare to defeat Miyagi-Do and win the Karate War. The Way of the Fist will be THE only way.
