The Mysterious Frost

Jack's POV

Kristoff jumped to his feet and ran after Elsa, and Hiccup and Eugene both shot me startled looks. No one had ever talked to me like that before. Either because they were too scared to or they didn't think it would make much of a difference. If anyone talked to me like Elsa did, I would probably do the exact opposite of what they said and hate them for life.

But strangely enough, when Elsa did it I didn't really mind. I almost felt... ashamed of what I had said. Like I was the jerk, not Kristoff.

"I think I should probably go," Rapunzel said while standing up. She shot me a glance which I couldn't quite read, and then she was gone.

"That was uncalled for man," Hiccup said.

"Yeah. You just got rid of my only chance with her," Eugene complained.

"You wanted to get together with Elsa?" I asked.

"No, Rapunzel," Eugene said while looking at the door where she had gone.

"Why'd you try to freeze her hands to the table?" Hiccup asked.

"What?" I asked.

"After all that stuff you said about not ending up in a science lab, I figured you wouldn't use your powers in public," Hiccup noted.

"Sh!" I said quickly. I didn't want anyone else knowing about my powers. I had ice powers. Nothing too special, but definitely unusual.

"No wonder she ran off in such a hurry," Hiccup said.

"What are you talking about?" I asked. Hiccup leaned over to where Elsa had been sitting and rubbed something that was on the table. I stood up so I could see what it was better.

There, frozen to the table, were two perfect outlines of human hands. They had to be Elsa's hands, because no one else had been sitting there recently.

"I didn't do that!" I protested in an offended voice. I had never used my powers before in school, and I certainly wasn't going to do it for the first time because of some new girl who was telling me off.

"Who else has ice powers?" Hiccup asked.

"But it wasn't me!" I protested.

"I can't believe you Jack. First you come into class talking about how one of the new girls is stupid and crazy, and then you insult her and the person who was probably her only friend, in her face no less, and then you try to freeze her hands to the table!" Hiccup said.

"Earlier today you would have done the same to Kristoff! Don't act like you're all best buds now!" I said, starting to get mad now. Hiccup shook his head slowly.

"I'm going to go find Elsa and Kristoff. I need to make sure Elsa is ok," He said while standing up.

"And I'm going to go find Rapunzel," Eugene said while standing up as well. My mouth fell open. I couldn't believe it. My best friends had just abandoned me for something that wasn't even my fault.

Then I got mad. When I found out who was responsible for the hand marks, I was going to reveal them to Hiccup and Eugene. They would believe me then.

But first I was going to find Elsa. Her telling me off reminded me of my mom, and it made me feel like I was her son who was in trouble. And whether I wanted to or not, I had the irresistible urge to go apologize. Which I had never done before to anyone except my sister.
