Its been a few years since the war with Salem. And at last, Remnant had no need to worry so much about the constant threat of being attacked by hordes of monstrous creatures. With the numbers of Grimm practically non-existent, many who were involved with the Huntsman and Huntress jobs, had to look for employment elsewhere. Many of them became mercenaries to maintain a dependable source of income. Few decided to kick back and relax, starting families of their own. 

This was no different for the heroes of Remnant, Team RWBY. After their efforts, they didn't really have to worry so much about maintaining a source of income. Not with Weiss Schnee's heritage and not with all the donations they had received for their efforts despite how much they said they didn't want the extra money. 

Blake Belladonna stayed with her family in Menagerie, still protesting and fighting for Faunas rights. Yang Xiao Long often came to help out, but most of the time, she'd spend her time roaming the world, going on new adventures. 

And then there was Ruby and Weiss who decided to marry each other. They stayed with Ruby's father, Tai, who was more than excited at the idea of being a grandfather. How can two women possibly have a child? Simple! Ruby and Weiss agreed that one of them would be artificially inseminated. It was the closest thing to having a child of their own blood aside from cheating. Since Ruby was younger, she was seen as easier to impregnate, even if it was only by a couple years. 

Unknown to anyone, the sample used was not the initial one they had decided on. A mistake on the doctor's part and one that wouldn't get noticed until much later on. 

Currently, Ruby was 9 months pregnant and she was set to burst at any time now. Even now, she was bed-ridden with both Weiss and her father tending to her. 

Ruby rubbed her bulged belly, smiling as she felt her child kick. It hurt, but it gave her reassurance that her child was healthy. Or that's what Tai told her at least and he had been through this twice before. 

Tai: How you feeling Ruby? 

Ruby: I wish I could move. 

Tai: Heh. Yeah. Your mom was pretty restless too. I still remember when she was pregnant with you. She was so excited to hold you in her arms. 

Ruby: I can imagine that. I wish she was still here...

Tai: I know... I'm sure she would've loved to see you all grown up. And I can imagine her racing around the entire house out of the sheer thrill of being a grandmother. 

Ruby: You mean like you did when I told you? 

The slowly greying haired man chuckled and nodded. 

Tai: Yeah. 

Ruby: Hey... Dad? 

Tai: Yes, Ruby? 

Ruby: Do... Do you think I'll be a good mom? 

Tai: Ruby, of course you'll be. You're probably the best youngster I know that will be one of the best moms alive. Just... do me a favour and don't go trying to do everything by yourself. You'll need help taking care of your kid and we're more than happy to help. 

Ruby: Right... Thanks, Dad. For everything.

Tai: Of course. 

From the bedroom, they heard the front door of the house open and close, alerting them that Weiss was back. A few moments passed and they were greeted with a woman in a theme of snow white clothing with multiple bags in her hands. Ruby's eyes widened at the sheer amount of clothes and balloons Weiss had bought.

Ruby: W-Weiss?! 

Weiss: What? Its for the baby. 

Tai: Why do you have both boy and girl-

Ruby: Dad! Don't! You might risk making a certain group angry. I mean, I agree with you, but... You know. 

Tai: Right. Right. But, yeah. My question stands. I thought you girls knew what this baby was. 

Weiss: Well, we wanted it to be a surprise. So I just decided to get everything. 

Ruby smiled softly. 

Ruby: Weiss... 

Suddenly, her smile changed and her eyes widened. 

Ruby: Ooh...

Tai: Ruby? What's wrong? Did the baby kick too hard? 

Ruby: N-No, I... I feel wet...

Tai's eyes widened. Quickly, he lifted up the blanket from the bottom end, seeing liquid on the sheets which confirmed his thoughts. 

Tai: Your water broke! 

Weiss + Ruby: WHAT?! 

Ruby: D-Does that mean the baby's coming?! 

Tai: Yep! Weiss! We planned for this! Call the doctor! 

Weiss: Got it! 

She immediately dropped the bags and pulled out her phone, dialling the one doctor that was bound to respond immediately. While she did that, Tai began to get everything Ruby would need to give birth. They would be in for a long and painful ride...

Timeskip

It had been an excruciatingly painful 9 hours, but at last, it was done. Ruby let out heavy breaths, relieved that her baby was finally out. The doctor was an old friend of Tai's who helped with Summer's delivery of Ruby many years ago. It was almost Deja vu for both Tai and the doctor. 

Doctor: Its a healthy boy. Ms Rose? Would you like to hold him? 

She weakly nodded and reached out to her son. The doctor gladly handed him over to Ruby, allowing the young woman to see her son. Weiss sat next to Ruby, smiling at the new-born youth. 

Weiss: He's beautiful. 

Tai: Yeah. Most babies usually look like little aliens when they're born. But not this little fella. He's adorable. 

Ruby: My little rose... 

She remarked with joyful tears running down her face. 

Doctor: Have you decided on a name? 

Weiss: Well, I was sure it was going to be a girl. I didn't really have any boy names. 

Ruby: I know one... I remember mom saying if she had a son, she'd want to call him Mutasim. So... That's what we'll call our son. Mutasim Rose. 

The baby slightly squirmed despite being wrapped in a nice and warm blanket. Ruby nuzzled her nose against her son's, over-thrilled with holding her son. 

Ruby: Weiss? Do you want to hold him? 

Weiss: Yes please. 

Weiss grabbed and held the boy in her arms, bouncing him slightly up and down. Happy, the baby gurgled a little. It was only just a few minutes ago that the baby was screaming and crying. So to finally see and hear him happy, it was a nice change of pace. One that matched the mood. 

Weiss: Mutasim Rose...
