Mutasim P.O.V
After my spar with Aunt Yang, mom decided to treat me with a walk through Vale. Just the two of us. Yang and the others decided to hang back at Beacon, discuss what our priorities should be now. Whether we should stick around and save this Remnant from Salem or just figure out a way to return to our own timeline.
Mom and I walk alongside each other with smiles on our faces.
Ruby (Future): So... Cinder told me that you used your silver eyes back in initiation.
Mutasim: Yeah. I planned on telling you, but I didn't get the opportunity. I was hoping maybe you could help me out with how I used it in the first place.
Ruby (Future): Well, do you remember how you triggered it?
Mutasim: Sorta. I just remember being really worried for you. Or your younger self to be more precise. And I think I remember having flashes of happier memories.
Mom smiles and pats my back.
Ruby (Future): And that's the main thing. Grimm are creatures created entirely from negative energy, they feed off it. But with silver eyes, if we can think about both what we want to protect and happy, positive things, then you're already on your way to mastering that power. If you'd like, we can have our own little training sessions.
I nod.
Mutasim: Yeah. I'd like that.
Ruby (Future): We'll start off small, just to be safe. Anyway, do you wanna do anything while we're out? Shopping? Coffee?
Mutasim: I could do with some coffee, sure.
We turn the corner and continue walking down the street before entering a small café. We order our drinks and sit down at a table next to the window as we wait for our order.
Ruby (Future): How were things growing up with Yang and I?
Mutasim: They were... weird. I mean, aside from the fact that I'm their future son and nephew, Yang had a habit of teasing and flirting with me. But considering her, I say that's normal.
Ruby (Future): Yeah. But can you blame her? You're a handsome young man now.
She ruffles my hair playfully, making me chuckle.
Mutasim: Thanks mom. And you're still as joyful as I remember.
Ruby (Future): Seeing my son safe and happy is all I need to make me happy.
The two of us share a small smile with each other. Soon after, our drinks arrive and we begin to take small sips from the scalding hot coffee.
Mutasim: Hey, mom? I've also got a couple questions about you growing up.
Ruby (Future): Hm? Uhh... Okay?
Mutasim: Yeah. Is it just me or did you have a slightly creepy obsession with weapons?
Her cheeks turn a small red colour as she nervously chuckles.
Ruby (Future): Oh. That. I, uhhh... Well, I was still kinda a kid back then. And I'm sure you heard the younger me say that weapons-
Mutasim + Ruby (Future): Are a reflection of other people.
We smile at each other.
Mutasim: Yeah. I guess that makes sense. Any idea when the others will get here?
Ruby (Future): It'll be some time still. I mean, we were all separated throughout Remnant so it's not exactly easy for them to get here. But I'm sure we won't have to wait for them much longer. Hey, if we're lucky, they'll be here before the dance.
