As the years went by, Mutasim Rose was visited by many of Ruby's friends and family. To name a few, he met with the entire Team RWBY, what remained of Team JNPR and Ruby's uncle Qrow. They all adored the boy, practically spoiling him with presents. And why not? It was the first child between all of them. The excitement was practically breaking the roof of a skyscraper!
However, as Mutasim grew older, Weiss noticed something strange about the boy. While he mostly took after Ruby with her black and red-ish hair and silver eye, he also had strands of snow white hair much like hers. At first, she thought nothing of it, but as the boy grew, it became a little more prominent. Ruby thought nothing of it, perhaps thinking it was a recessive gene. But Weiss? She felt there was something wrong.
One day when Ruby took Mutasim out to the city for a day, Weiss looked into his medical records and found who the sperm donor was. And it made her sick and furious. The donor wasn't the one they initially chose. Instead, it turned out to be her brother's, Whitley's! Just the thought that Mutasim was in a way, Whitley's son, made her blood boil. And unknown to everyone else, Weiss began to harbour a resentment of the boy that was Ruby's son.
When it was only Weiss and Mutasim home, she would neglect the boy, even if he was genuinely hungry or thirsty. That's how it started at least. But as time went on, the Schnee found herself despising the boy so much more as she saw Ruby spending more time with him than her.
Eventually, this led to Weiss physically abusing Mutasim, beating him under the guise of "discipline". He was also threatened not to tell anyone otherwise Weiss would actually use her rapier. The terror she instilled in him was too much to bear and it forced him to stay with Ruby as much as he could. As much as he wanted to tell his birth mother the truth, Weiss did a good job of making him fear her.
When Mutasim reached the age of 9, it was revealed that he had a Semblance much like Ruby's, allowing him to turn into a blur of white and red roses. Everyone was thrilled by the news. Everyone, except Weiss who knew why the roses were also white. It only got worse from there for the poor boy.
And it eventually led to him going on his first adventure. One that would leave him so much more confused.
