Just what is going on as of late?

The unexpected outbreak of bandits across the country.

The numerous kidnappings, of children especially, reported soon after.

And now the sudden decline of these incidents within the territory of Keren County.

No, not just decline, they have been out right stopped in their tracks.

The surge in bandits already smells of an international incident, and one would have already happened if me and my family weren't saved from a bandit attack not long ago.

Though during said attack, Merazophis and many of the other guards accompanying us were gravely wounded.

And yet, most of us made it back to town perfectly alive.

Thanks to, of all things, a spider Monster.

A Monster, which clearly targeted the bandits ruthlessly yet also healed Merazophis and the others.

Bandits, having to survive out in the wild to conduct their evil, living far from the comfort of towns and cities, are usually pretty strong to fend off the Monsters out there.

But in a matter of moments, they were killed by a single, small spider Monster.

In fact, there should be no spider Monsters in the local area.

That already raises some alarms, it being far above the power curve of the area and seemingly originated from elsewhere.

While I didn't quite catch what happened during the fight between the spider and the bandits, at the very least I can say that [Earth Magic] has been used to kill some of the bandits.

This implies that the spider is smart enough to use Magic.

But then it used [Healing Magic] as well to save Merazophis and the others from their lethal injuries.

Most people can't use [Healing Magic] at all, and even those who do can't do something as miraculous as what that spider did without dedicating their entire lives to train their Magic Stat to use the higher tier Spells.

Potent Healing Potions that can do something similar exist, but they are costly to create and thus very expensive.

The same goes for the services of the strongest Healing Mages out there, who while nowhere near as rare as people who can use [Spatial Magic], are still far and few between.

And that spider can heal on top of fight.

A noticeable difference between Humans and Monsters is that people have lower Stats but more and stronger Skills than Monsters, and Monsters that can use Magic are relegated to A Rank Monsters and above.

So for this spider to have immense strength, likely powerful Skills and the intelligence to use Magic is a terrifying combination for a Monster to appear so close to town, nevermind the dread I felt from encountering it.

So we were fortunate to have been spared and even saved by this spider for whatever strange reason a Monster could possibly have to do so.

But the story doesn't end there.

The very night of the day we returned to town, our mansion was broken into by a group of cloaked infiltrators, whose origins we have yet to determine.

What were they here? To assassinate me and my family?
