Tamlins POV
Daughter. Ianthe had a daughter. It simply couldn't be possible. And yet. She would've been the only wicked thing that could've left little Dawn in those woods. Close to death. Yet the little one was so determined. I could still remember that day she called me Kitty and snuggled into my arms.
I would've killed the bitch on sight if it wasn't for the prying eyes of the kids.
They were all so rattled that Maura and I decided to throw them a slumber party.
While they were busy having pillow fights, Lucien and I went to track down Ianthe'ss sister.
We had no luck but now. Now. Now there is a paper on my desk telling me to meet her alone. She got into the fucking manor. She could've taken Dawn and killed all those kids.
" What's that," Maura said coming closer to my desk.
" Nothing!" I blurted out already getting frustrated.
" Then why does it look like you're about to have one of your temper tantrums?" She said folding her arms.
I growled.
" Not now Maura." She rolled her eyes.
" Listen Tamlin. I don't give a f**k if you're the high lord. You could be the damned popo for all I care. All I know is that those kids came here frightened out of their skin. And my kid hasn't slept all night."
" Mine. She's my daughter. Not yours." Maura's cheeks were turning red.
" Like hell, she's not. I don't think you had any part in her birth. Damn I'd pitty the poor woman if you did...."
" Is that all you came to do? To yell at me." I screamed. She was driving me insane.
" We'll. Since you don't know how to be decent, it's the only way to get anything through that thick scull of yours."
I stared at the wall. That was my mistake. Maura darted for my desk and grabbed the letter. " Maura....."
" If you interrupt me, I will shave you next time you transform." She said and she was dead serious. I was stunned. I couldn't move couldn't speak. I felt like a fish opening and closing my mouth.
"Okay, so what's the deal with Ianthe'ss sister?" I ran a hand through my hair.
" She might be Dawn's Aunt. "
Maura's eyes widened. Her mouth fell open.
" By the Cauldron. Does this mean..." I looked straight into her eyes. " Yes, Ianthe might've been Dawn's mother."
Out of all the possible people. That traitorous witch.
And that scar on Dawn's abdomen. It had to be her. That woman. That thing that cost me Feyre.
"Stop it," Maura said in an irritating tone. " Stop what!" I grunted.
"You're thinking about the high lady again and making excuses for your shifty behavior."
I frowned. " You can notice my moods," I said and I almost smiled at her.
" That's my job. I'm here to look after the kids and make sure there isn't another shitshow."
I rolled my eyes. " But. I'm not a child." She placed the letter on my desk. As she walked to the door." Well, obviously. You're the shitshow. "
She said as she walked off. I strapped daggers to my side and grabbed the cloak. If this bitch thought she could threaten to take my daughter and leave alive she's gravely mistaken.I went to the stables and tacked up Daenarys. Dawn has done a wonderful job with the horse.
" Daddy?" I heard her little voice. " Yes, my little Rosebud." I turned to her. " What are you doing?" She asked me walking closer.
" I just have to borrow Dae for a bit. I have some people I need to see." I said as I hugged her.
" Ohh, can I come?" She asked looking up at me with those turquoise eyes." How could I not have recognized it? Those are Ianthes eyes. " Dad? Are you okay?" I smiled and brushed a hand over her hair. " I'm perfectly fine princess. I'll see you tonight. "
I said as I jumped on Daenerys's back. And rode off as Dawn went back to the manor.
And I was on my way. To protect my future. My daughter.
I rode until. I found the little cabin we were to meet. It was beyond the border of Pyrithian. Into mortal territory.
I dismounted and knocked. My other hand is still on the hilt of the dagger.
" You may enter." Came that snakish voice.
The wood cracked underneath my boot. " What will it take!" I stalked closer growling. Ianthe might've been the most power-hungry, but her sister was the smart one. " Ohh, calm down now, Tamlin.....
" I will not calm down until Dawn is safe!!"
She smiled. "I only have one question for you beastie." She said stalking closer. " Has she exhibited any show of unnatural power?"
I was quiet. What did they want with her?
" No!" I lied. Trying to keep my voice as calm as I could. She nodded her head.
" Well, just in case you are lying. Know that If she does she will never be safe in the spring court. If she shows any sign of power I will come for her. Before he does."
I frowned
" What are you talking about!" She rolled her eyes. " I've let the child live with you for long enough. Ianthe thought Dawn had no true power and tried to sacrifice her to gain more. Since she has Koscheis blood in her."
This was worse than I thought. Was that thing her father? " Is he... Is he...." She burst out laughing.
" He's trapped underwater. No, Tamlin. Her father was the king of Hyburn. They agreed to sire Dawn for him."
I walked closer. " What does that mean." She sighed. " It means that if she has Raw power like he predicted she would she is his key to getting out of there."
This is so much worse than I ever could've imagined. If she could get to Dawn this easily I didn't even want to know who else could.
" What does it mean? This raw power. Is it like Feyre's?" She laughed.
" Feyre is powerful, no doubt, but she doesn't have raw magic. She was gifted only a fraction of each high lord's powers. In every universe, it is said that one person is born with Raw power. The ability of their magic to grace upon other kinds of powers and study it. Making it their own. If he was right. That child is the most powerful fae in this universe. And she will never be safe here.
With a gush of wind, the door burst open. Standing there Dawn and her little marry band. " Daddy? What are you doing here?"
Bethany closed her eyes and sighed.
" You lied little high lord." She said stalking closer to Dawn.
" I can feel it radiating from her."" Noo," a growl pierced the air as I transformed, Tackling Bethany.
" Run, Dawn, now!" I hit her but she had a protective shield around her.
Dawn was still standing in the doorway eyes wide.
" Levi! Get her out of here" He nodded his head and threw her over his shoulder. He'd get her out. That kid would do anything for her.
Bethany grabbed me by my throat.
" I won't kill you for what you did for my niece, but understand this, she will be coming with me. And you are powerless to stop it. I growled. " Over my dead body."She used her powers again. The pressure increasing all around me.
" You do not want me as your enemy Tamlin. I am the only reason that girl is even alive. And I will be taking her now."
I dropped to the ground, nearly unconscious, as Bethany strode out. I crawled and crawled. I had to get to Dawn. I had to protect Dawn.
I crawled until the next moment everything was dark........
Tan tan tA. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I wonder what will happen next. Will Bethany capture Dawn? How will Tamlin keep her safe. .....
