"Hey there Miss Gatlin, mind if I take a seat?" Scott stood awkwardly by the bar.
"Baby I looked after you when you were a child, you can come and go as you please," Marnie flashed a smile, "And none of this 'Miss Gatlin' business either."
"You were always my favourite babysitter Mar, don't know how you got Mother and Father to let a non Heron watch my brother and I," Scott sat on one of the barstools.
"Couldn't tell you my secret Dear. Now you must be absolutely sweltering in that coat, it's the middle of summer Scott," Marnie tutted, setting down her tea towel.
"I'm alright-" Scott replied quickly, looking away.
"Ah. I've got a sneaking suspicion about why you won't take it off but consider knowing this; no one in my faction will judge you. And if what I think is correct..." Marnie pulled up their own sleeve, showing her own scars.
Scott paused for a brief moment before slowly slipping off his coat, his bandages peaked out from underneath his white sleeves of his long sleeved top.
"And just a reminder, in case you need one, you are part of my family kid, and my family is always welcome through these doors, no matter what time, faction or day. We understood?" Marnie took Scott's hand.
"Yes Mar. Now have you seen Acho? I have a gift for star."
"Star's up in their tree, run along now and take care of yourself!"
"Yes Miss Gatlin," Scott teased, grabbing his coat and made his way out the door.
"I love that kid," Marnie chuckled, picking her cloth back up before continuing to wipe down her bar top.
