A/N: okay, i'm taking a break now. I'm eating at my chapter supply and need to catch up lmaooo but enjoy

BUT if you wanna keep up with me and stuff, I made a twitter for this account. I'll just be posting about KNY and BNHA mainly, but feel free to chat with me :) it's @/plantsrrfriend  without the s cause it was taken.

"Lady Reiko," I said softly, but it startled the woman much worse then I expected.

She yelped and violently flinched, tossing away the makeup brush she'd been using. Reiko reeled around, the look of shock not quite matching the pristine makeup she had been putting on. I'd long since taken off my makeup and dressed back into the familiar demon slayer uniform. My haori felt better loose like this rather then the way it'd been in a kimono. Aika really had put a lot of work into this piece of clothing.

Lady Reiko stared at me with a wide gaze, before letting out a heavy breath and letting her shoulders slump, "Ah, Y/n. You scared me! Shouldn't sneak up on people."

"I apologize," I replied, sliding from the window frame I had previously been perched in and letting my feet land silently on the ground.

Her brow furrowed. I hadn't known her long, but she'd been incredibly kind to me and I know that she seemed fond of me for some reason. I felt she was deserving of a goodbye.

"Y/n," She started, "Why are you dressed like that? Is that... a sword?"

Oh, she's perceptive. It was covered by my haori, but still visible if you looked hard enough. Seeing no point in concealing or decieveing her, I rested my palm on the hilt of said sword. I explained, "I wanted to say goodbye. You've been kind to me, so I figured you deserved one."

She swiveled where she sat, still seeming a little confused, "You're leaving? I thought you said you weren't running off with someone..."

"I'm not," I corrected, unable to stop a small smile and opting to kneel on the same level as her, "I have a different job. I was staying here undercover, to investigate something. I'm sorry I deceived you all, but here's repayment for housing, food, and anything else I was given."

As I said, I handed an envelope in her direction. She still seemed a bit baffled, but eventually carefully took it and studied it's blank exterior. Her blue gaze flickered back up to me, "Undercover? What do you mean?"

A soft breath left me as I contemplated, but eventually said, "It's a lot to explain. This district is in danger, but my friends and I are working to protect it." My tone grew more stern, "Stay inside, and keep the others inside as well. Be as alert as you can, but also ready to leave if something goes wrong."

"This doesn't make any sense," She frowned, her previous playfulness giving way to confusion and slight anxiety. Reiko seemed cautious of me, "What's going on, Y/n?"

"Protect the others, please," I asked, pushing myself up. As much as I'd love to give a long-winded explanation, that wasn't needed. There was no reason for her to be dragged into the affairs of demons. She already had enough on her plate - I couldn't burden her with this, too. I reached the window, easily hopping into the frame, but I glanced back and said, "You're an incredible Oiran. Thank you for everything. I promise to do my best to keep you safe."

She opened her mouth, but the words died on her tongue. There must be so many questions - and I'm sorry I can't answer them all. But it's for the best. If I can protect people from even knowing demons exist, that would be better then being tortured by their existence day after day.
