February 2014 - New Orleans, Louisiana
You're not enough, the words echoed in Astra's head as she stayed hunched behind the pillar. Klaus had left her to join the fight, but Astra was stuck. Frozen in fear. You're not strong enough.
She had heard it her whole life. From her father in her first life and then over and over as the people who claimed to care about her watched her magic destroy her.
And they were right. She never seemed to be strong enough. She wasn't even strong enough to save Elijah from his darkness. They were all relying on her to guide Elijah back to himself and she was just as lost as they all were. After all, how could she guide him to the light when she was surrounded in darkness? The darkness always consumed her, forcing her into the dark oblivion where there was no way out.
Astra wanted nothing more than to fall into it. It was so much easier and she was so tired of fighting. What was the point of fighting? They had been fighting for a thousand years and never seemed to get anywhere. They had nothing to show for it. They fought to survive but had nothing to truly live for.
She was so tired of having nothing to live for.
But Elijah did. He had his family. He had a purpose in his fight. He fought for the hope that his family would be whole one day. He always had hope. She just needed to find her own.

Davina tried to ignore the sound of the growls Klaus was releasing as he dove for his brother. She had to focus on Kol. He had told her that, next to Elijah, he was the best fighter in the family. They needed him. Besides, she would not leave him defenseless in a courtyard where the white oak stake was in play.
Davina climbed the staircase, managing to release Kol from the iron staircase. Or rather she used her magic to melt the iron and let Kol fall unceremoniously to the floor.
"Kol," she gasped, running down to him. She fell to her knees and tugged on the iron stake that was still piercing his heart. "I need you to wake up. Your family needs you."
But it was no use, the stake would not budge. She sat back on her feet as she rolled her eyes at herself. She may not have had the strength to remove the stake but she did have magic. Holding her hands to her side she murmured an incantation, causing the stake to shoot up and fall harmlessly to the ground next to them.
With the stake free, she watched the open wound in his chest closely. But it did not heal and Kol did not move.
He needs blood, Davina realized, reaching over and grabbing the stake that was still covered in her boyfriend's blood. She quickly sliced her palm open and shoved it into Kol's mouth. The color returned quickly and then his eyes flew open as the blood poured down his throat, his teeth sinking in.
"Kol," she warned. "Kol, stop."

Freya and Rebekah watched in horror as Klaus fell to the ground, his body morphing and distorting as he did.
