1174 - Cairo, Egypt
Elijah hadn't been in Egypt long when he ran across Aya. She had instantly captivated him. Something that hadn't happened in almost 200 years. He would watch her with her mentor. She was a bright pupil and seemed to absorb knowledge as if it was the very air she was breathing.
He couldn't help but be taken with her.
Not only was he fascinated by her intelligence, he was drawn in my her skill. Aya was not a witch but she had learned of Astra's training sessions and had begun attending. She didn't know what Elijah was, however she was intelligent enough to know he was not purely human. Even so, it did not cause her to hesitate for a moment when Astra called for an opponent against Elijah.
She stood before him with all of the confidence in the world. And if he had been human, she likely would have won. Alas, she was no match for Elijah's training and strength. As Elijah held her to the ground, she looked up at him with wide eyes.
"What are you?" She asked, but her voice was not full of fear as he had grown accustomed to. Instead there was something akin to amazement in them.

February 2014 – New Orleans, Louisiana
Marcel paced the worn-down porch where he had tracked Aya too. She had been avoiding him, either that or she had been too busy devising her plans to fill him in.
"So that's how it is?" Marcel didn't give her a second to gather herself as she exited the house, clearly on a mission. "You kidnap the alphas of the wolves in my city and let a humanity-less Original loose and you don't even tell me?"
"I'm not in the habit of explaining my decisions to subordinates." She hardly spared him a glance as she breezed past him to the waiting car.
"You put my entire city at risk." Marcel did not allow her the escape, grabbing her arm to stop her in place. If she had wanted to, Aya could have broken his grasp, but she didn't. Instead, she stood in place, her eyes meeting his with a cold stare. "I'm not going to let you destroy everything I've created here."
"You are in no position to make demands." Aya did shake off his arm this time, clearly unimpressed. "If the prophecy is true, the Mikaelsons will fall within the year and us along with them. I have a plan that will keep us alive. Perhaps you should focus on proving yourself essential to my plan."
"And here I thought your plan went out the window when you executed your own witch." While Marcel was no stranger to the murder of witches, he didn't like how callously the Strix had murdered one of their own. He especially didn't like the manner in which they used the dead witch to torment Astra.
"The Strix have been around for a millennium, you truly think we only had one powerful witch at our beck and call." Aya moved away from him down the stairs but turned back to him with a small smile on her lips. "Elijah may have corrupted one coven, but I assure you, they were not our only allies."
