Hayley hadn't wanted to separate from the witches, but she kept her promise and went straight back to the compound. She wouldn't allow herself to be used to break the sire line unless it was going to bring Elijah back. Yet she couldn't help but feel like a coward as she let out a sigh of relief when she crossed the threshold to her home.

The relief was short lived though.

The compound was too quiet. Focusing, Hayley sped toward the sound of her daughter's heartbeat. Thankfully, all of the occupants of the house seemed to be together.

"Where are you going?" Hayley demanded as she noticed Cami's jacket upon entering the room. They had relocated down in the lower levels of the compound. Cami was setting up a playpen for the kids as Keelin was keeping them occupied. "Why are you down here?"

"Aurora has Klaus," Cami didn't look up as she finished situating the bed. "She was able to nearly get to Hope through the balcony windows."

Hayley's eyes widened as she leaned down to grab her daughter, hugging her tightly to her chest.

"Klaus got there in time, but Aurora provoked him and she took him." Cami's breathing was coming in quick, her eyes wild with panic. "I followed them. She took him to that penthouse. I couldn't—"

She couldn't save him.

Hayley knew how difficult that thought was. Even if it was an impossible task, failing the one you love was not easy.

"Keelin, can you watch the kids?" She turned to her fellow werewolf. She hadn't spent much time with the woman, but she had come running the second she suspected Freya was in trouble. She was a fighter.

"I'll tear apart anyone who even thinks of coming in here," Keelin confidently raised her hand, showcasing the ring on her finger. A moonlight ring.

She kissed her daughter gently and hugged her fiercely. She would not let her daughter become an orphan. She would save her father and they would both return home.

The bright light flooded the penthouse as Klaus felt the weight of unconsciousness leave him. He groaned as he realized his arms were restrained above his head. It didn't take him long to remember what had happened. To remember that he had allowed Aurora to goad him and then get the drop on him.

"Too tight my love?" Aurora's hand trailed down the metal chains that secured Klaus to the wooden bar she had hung from the ceiling. She let out a light laugh as Klaus began to struggle for his freedom.

"Those chains and that wood were crafted by ancient Egyptians, keen on suppressing all sorts of evil. Nothing supernatural can escape. Not even you." She moved around to stand in front of him so she could better see the anger in his eyes. "I've been holding onto this for a long time. I had planned it for your brother, but you've left me no choice.
