Aurora sat on the cold tile floor, her back leant against a white wall. There were at least 8 initiates left, all scattered across the floor of the room. On wall of the room stood a large metal door, leading to a room that contained something that nobody knew, except for the helpless people who are carried out of the room with tears streaming down their cheeks and Four, who was the running the tests.Aurora felt her body go numb. She had been sitting down for at least two hours. Earlier, the initiates were told that they were beginning the second stage of initiation, the mental part. Aurora was strong mentally, at least she thought she was. She assumed that she would find out soon as she watched Molly being carried out of the room. Two men carried her on either side as she stumbled to walk on her own feet. Her skin was pale and her eyes looked red and glassed, her hair was messy and damp from her own sweat.
Auroras eyes followed the girl, until another person caught her attention. "Aurora" Tobias said, his head poking out of the door. Auroras head snapped to face the boy, before slowly standing up and hesitantly walking over towards him. He opened the door wider for her, moving his hand to welcome her into the room, before shutting the door behind them both.
The room was similar to the one of the aptitude test. A metal chair stood stretched out in the middle of the room, a chair and table next to it, where Tobias sat down. Aurora stopped before the chair, and watched Tobias as he assembled a type of needle and serum. She had a concerned look on her face.
"Relax, please" four said reassuringly. He walked up to her and put a hand on her shoulder. "Sit down please" he asked gesturing to the chair. Aurora did what was asked sitting down and prolong her legs up on the chair, looking over to four.
"This is a serum that mimics your biggest fears. Some people have up to 14 fears, so if you don't get through them all at first, it's okay." Four said, reaching a hand up to clasp around the side of auroras cheek, clearing the hair out of her face. Aurora nodded her head, swallowing her saliva.
Tobias reached over to the needle, and picked it up, shifting his other hand to the other side of her neck, holding it as support. He slowly pressed the needle into the side of auroras neck. "To complete the simulation you need to steady your breathing and relax your heart rate."
Aurora felt a pinch as the needle pierced her skin. Furrowing her eyebrows. Tobias gave her a sympathetic look as she watched her eyes close and her suddenly leave reality.
Aurora woke in a burning building, her home, back at amity. She was at one end of the hallway, Leo at the other end. "Help! Aurora! Please!" Leo shouted scared. As Aurora began to run towards the boy, the roof in front of her fell in, blocking her path to Leo.
"Leo! No, please!" Aurora looked around the hallway, that seemed to slowly get smaller. Flames surrounding her. Aurora felt her heart ache, the feeling reminding her of what four said. "It's not real" she said quietly, slowing her breathing.
Then she found herself on the edge of a building. Her father slowly walking towards her from the side. Aurora turned to face him. "I'm disappointed in you Aurora. Choosing dauntless over your own family! How could you!" He snapped. Pushing the girl, sending her flying over the side of the building. As Aurora felt herself plummeting towards the ground, her hair flying behind her. She reminded herself. It's not real.
Before she could hit the ground, she landed on a type of cold floor, but with no impact. She gasped as she laid there on the floor, before sitting up and looking around the room she was in. It was well lit up, almost like the one of the aptitude test, mirrors surrounding her. But there was no chair, just aurora and her reflection.
"Hello aurora" her reflection said seductively, breaking from the act of following the girls every move, walking up closer to the girl. "Don't you feel it?" She asked. Aurora stood there blankly. "You do, I can tell. It's taking over."
"What is?" Aurora asked concerned.
"The darker side of you. It's clawing it's way to the surface. The burning hatred for Peter, the way you feel while your fighting him, when you make him hurt. That's when you can see it." Her reflection snapped back.
A tear began to stream down auroras cheek, she stared into her reflection, and took in a deep breath, clenching her jaw. "Your not real" she said quietly, closing her eyes.
Aurora jolted forwards, finding herself back in her chair, Tobias already by her side to comfort her, Taking her hand in his. Aurora felt as if she was out of breath, breathing heavily. Sweat had formed on her forehead, and her body felt fatigued.
"Hey, shhh" Tobias said comforting the girl. "Your okay, your okay" he said as he raised his other hand up to place a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Are you okay Rory?" He asked gently.
Aurora nodded her head. "Yeah I'm good" she replied. Gaining control back over her breathing. Feeling as four left her side, beginning to feel cold without his presence.
"Aurora. How long do you think you were in the simulation for?" Tobias asked seriously.
"I dunno, like 30 minutes?" She questioned.
"You had three fears, that's one less than me. You were out for 2 minutes and 53 seconds. The fastest time yet" he said shocked.
"Wait four fears? That's where your nickname comes from, oh my god" Aurora said with a chuckle, wiping the sweat of off her forehead.
Tobias nodded with a smile, before his face went back to being serious."Aurora your time is incredible. it's rare" four said concerned.
"What do you mean?" Aurora asked concerned. Realising what he was suggesting. She knew she couldn't tell anybody, so her best option was to leave. "I have to go" she said sharply, jumping of off the chair.
Tobias grabbed the girls arm, spinning her around to face him. "Aurora, you can trust me."
"Can I?" She questioned, with a look on her face. Tobias's felt his heart break. He had worked so hard to gain the girls trust. "For all I know, you may dob me in to max and Eric, I'd be dead by the morning" she snapped.
"You and I both know damn well I would never." He said with a look in his eyes.
Aurora took in a deep breath, staring deeply into Tobias's eyes, before turning to make her way back out of the door.
There Tobias stood in the middle of the room, as he watched the girl slam the door shut behind her. He cursed himself. He didn't understand why he pushed it, why he had to make her feel uncomfortable. All he wanted to do was help her, and he was determined to make her realise it.
