They were back in front of the guarded building. The travel was quiet as everyone thought about the pawn trace they found at the stream. White knew something weird was happening in the Dark forest, and now he was almost sure what it was. The toxins mutated wolves into giant beasts, killing other animals and contestants. Tawi certainly knew it. There was no way he didn't. Is that why the building was guarded so well?
"What now?" Black asked as they hid behind the bush, observing the building.
"We get in," Sean answered and rolled his eyes.
"No shit Sherlock." Black retorted. White jabbed him into the ribs.
"Let's check for cameras and possible weak points in the fence," Sean suggested. It was a good idea.
"Count the guards, too." He added.
"We should split." Gram tossed in the idea.
"Fine. White, let's go." Black grabbed his hand, ready to go.
"Can't you wait? Yok will stay here, watching the front. Black, leave the backpack with him." Sean stopped them. White agreed. He tugged at his brother's bag, helping him to get it down. White sacrificed his backpack at the stream, so they had only one and heavier. They would be faster without it. Black growled but let him hand the baggage to Yok.
"Let's meet back in thirty minutes," Sean said.
"And be careful." He added.
"You too." White retorted with a smile, though Sean couldn't see it. He felt his brother's hand dragging him away. He was annoyed, and White didn't need their bond to know it.
They strolled at a safe distance from the fence, hiding behind the trees and other vegetation. The building had one floor, but they didn't know what could be underground. They get behind the construction, and only now White realized he could hear the quiet drumming of the engine. They used a generator for electricity. What the hell was Tawi doing here?
"We are going back," Black whispered, leading the way. They arrived at the same time as Sean and Gram. Yok was sitting in the same spot, munching on something. The shape and smell seemed familiar to White.
"What are you eating?" Gram asked curiously.
"Don't know. It fell from their backpack." Yok shrugged.
"What the fuck." Black stormed towards him, ripping the plastic bag from his clutches.
"You ate almost all White's dried meat," Black grumbled, murder in his eyes.
"I couldn't help myself. It tastes scrumptious." Yok tried to defend himself.
"I am going to kill you and toss you to that giant animal." Black was ready to jump at Yok. White grabbed his arm before he could do it.
"It's okay. I am glad you liked it. Can we talk about our mission now?" White smiled as he sat beside Yok and dragged his sulking brother with him.
"Two guards at the front. They didn't move so far. I found two cameras. One is at the entrance to the building, and one is at the roof above it." Yok informed them.
"The entrance to the area is on the right side. Two guards, with submachines and two cameras." Gram added.
"No guard behind the building. But they have cameras at the corners of the building." Black said, taking the dried meat and starting munching on it. He offered him one, and White gladly took it. He nudged his twin to offer one to Sean and Gram, too. Black rolled his eyes but stretched his arm anyway.
"What now?" White asked. He was genuinely curious. The fence was untouched, and the cameras were at every corner. Not to mention the armed men and the four pillars with halogen lights.
"We wait and observe. The opportunity will come soon." Sean was so sure that White believed him.
