chapter six

———◈—◇—◈—◇———

"I would just like it, on record, that this absolutely does not count as cooking."

"Yoongi," you turned to your brother, holding out a plate. "Shut the fuck up and eat."

Yoongi huffed, narrowing his feline eyes at you, but accepted the plate anyway.

It was two days now since you'd moved into your apartment. You'd spend those days in a haze of stress and exhaustion, trying to move everything from your parent's house to here, while simultaneously going to work and being a functioning adult human being.

At least you had put the bookshelf up the right way around. Since then, you hadn't had the heart to tackle any more furniture yourself, so you'd paid to have your couch and dining table assembled when they were delivered.

Sure, it had cost you an arm and a leg, and you definitely could not afford it now that you were supporting yourself - but that's what credit cards are for, right? Every girl deserved a treat once in a while, and yours was having two men from the hardware store build your furniture last night before your best friends descended on your apartment this evening.

Truthfully, you had forgotten about the dinner party. It was never really something you had to think of - Kiki normally did all the cooking at your parent's house, and you just entertained. It was no secret among your friends that you had never picked up a frying pan in your life.

So it was also no surprise that, tonight, you, Rae, Jungkook, your brother Yoongi, and his boyfriend Hobi, were all gathered around your brand new dining table in your brand new apartment-

Eating Chinese takeout.

"It still doesn't count," Yoongi muttered, although his plate was now heaped with lo mein, sweet chilli beef and a mountain of prawn crackers.

Hobi grinned up at him. "Yoongs, honey, go easy on her. This is her first time living away from home, and she's clearly exhausted," he said softly, shooting you a reassuring glance.

Yoongi glanced over at his boyfriend of three years too, huffing a little. You loved Hobi, because he rounded Yoongi out in all the right ways. Yoongi was a music producer, and Hobi was a dancer - together, they had their own production and performance company. And of course, Hobi was the soft edges to all of Yoongi's sharp ones.

He was the reason that Yoongi didn't press this matter any further, and just tucked into his food instead. Hobi rubbed a knuckle over Yoongi's arm affectionately as he did, making your heart warm a little.
