Casey pov

I'm currently working at my uncle Tukson's bookstore. Right now, business is slow because of the setup for the Vital Festival. I just finished restocking books on the shelves for customers. I went behind the counter, with Rick lying on the floor behind it. I explained to Tukson about Rick, and to my surprise, Tukson is pretty accepting of my pet, Beowolf, to the point he allows me to have him with me in the shop.

It's been over two hours into my shift as I'm reading 'The Tale of the Two Brothers' when I heard the bell ring. On instinct, I greeted them with Tukson's catchphrase, "Welcome to Tukson's Booktrade, home to every book under the sun," I said, still reading. I then heard a giggle, so I looked up and saw Blake. "Do you really have to say it," Blake asked. " If I want to get paid, then yeah, kinda," I told her. Blake starts to wander around. "So, this is where you work at," Blake commented. "How did you know where I work," I asked, confused because I hadn't told anyone where I work. Then, the realization hit me because Ruby and Yang know where I work. "Ruby and Yand told, didn't they," I asked my girlfriend. "Yeah, they did," Blake told me.

"So, what brings you here, Blake," I asked my girlfriend. "Well, Weiss wants everyone to come with her to Vale to check out the setup for the Vital Festival," Blake explained to me. I sighed at this because I figured Weiss was behind this. "Well, I hate to break it to Ice Queen, but I can't leave, I'm still on shift," I told Blake. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder; I looked up and saw my Uncle Tukson looking down at me with a gentle smile on his face. "Go ahead, kiddo. Business is slow because of the setup anyways, so I'll be closing up shop for the rest of the day," Tukson told me. With this, Tukson handed me my pay for the day and I headed out with Blake and Rick.

We soon reached the others, with Weiss looking annoyed. "What took you so long," Weiss asked. "Sorry, Ice Queen, but not all of us are rich like you, so some of us have to work to make a living," I tell Weiss. Weiss looked even more annoyed by this. "Hey, come on, let's all just get along," Sam said, trying to calm things down. Weiss reluctantly agreed to this, "You're right, Sam, I apologize, Casey, for my rudeness," Weiss said to me. "It's cool, Weiss," I tell her with a smile. So, with this, we began heading to the docks.

"Ah, the Vital Festival! Oh, this is absolutely wonderful," Weiss commented as we all walked in the docks as people are putting up banners saying 'Welcome to Vale.' "I never see you this excited before, Weiss; it's kinda freaking me out," Ruby commented. "You say it, sis," I agree with Ruby. Weiss looked offended. "How can you not smile? A festival dedicated to the cultures of the world. There will be dances, parades, a tournament; oh, the amount the planning and organizing that goes into the event is simply breathtaking," Weiss commented excitedly. "Shesh, you know how to make something exciting into something boring," Yang commented. "Oh, shush you," Weiss told Yang. "So, why are we spending our Saturday at the docks," Yang asked. "It's all fishy," Ruby commented while pinching her nose. "I heard students visiting from Vacuo are arriving by ship today, And as a representative of Beacon, I feel it is my solemn duty to welcome them to this fine kingdom," Weiss told us. I don't have to use Shadow Reading that she is full of shit. "She wants to spy on them so she'll have the upper hand in the tournament," Blake said. "You can't prove that," Weiss said, annoyed.

As we walked down the street, we noticed a damaged dust store. Curious about this, we all head over to the crime scene to investigate what has happened. Although, I have a gut feeling that it must be Torchwick that me and Ruby fought a while ago. And I bet that Ruby is also suspicious of Torchwick as well. But even though it's a hunch, I can't prove anything without evidence first.

As we got there, we noticed the police are already investigating the crime scene. "What happened here," Ruby asked curiously. "Robbery, second dust shop to be hit this week; this is turning into a jungle," one of the police officers answered. "That's terrible," Yang commented. "They left all the money," Another cop commented. "Huh," Ruby asked confusingly. "Yeah, this doesn't make a lick of sense; who needs that much dust," The first officer asked. "I don't know, an army," the second officer commented. "You're thinking the White Fang," The first officer asked. "I'm thinking that we don't get paid enough," the second officer commented.
