Sunflowers.

A symbol for lasting happiness. Something that Calum was not feeling right now. Somehow even after sketching for ages, something didn't look right. Maybe the colouring was off, or was it the initial sketch he made? Or maybe he needed to look at it from  another angle? "Could I please borrow your eraser?"

The boy who had his music set on the highest volume didn't seem to realise there was a person who was talking to him.

The boy sighed and tapped Calum's shoulder making him pull one of his airpods out, completely facing the boy next to him. "Shit, sorry, didn't realise someone was already sitting here." he quickly apologized while chuckling sheepishly, "I'm Calum." He introduced himself to his new form benchmate.

The boy shrugged, holding the book he was reading close to his chest, "that's alright, I'm Isaac. I was asking if I could borrow your eraser..."

Calum nodded quickly, handing the boy his worn out eraser, but quickly retracting, "it most probably has a little bit of colour in it... sorry." He tried get the colour out by erasing on a wasted paper before handing it to Isaac.

Isaac chuckled as he used Calum's eraser before giving it back, "thanks."

Calum nodded, "what year are you in?" he asked.

"10th, and you?." Isaac responded.

"11th." He replied as he took the other airpod out, setting it into the case.

The boys continued to make small talk as they multitasked, Isaac was chatting away whilst doing his math homework, and Calum was finishing his art project, still not looking very satisfied with his sunflower.

Unlike the rest of the team, Calum didn't particularly enjoy spending a lot of time with the rugby boys. He liked keeping to himself most times. It was lunch now and Calum's eyes kept shutting due to exhaustion, he had three assignments due, and he hadn't slept the night prior.

The boy was now googling and paraphrasing his english assignment, having run out of all the options and having to pick this approach due to the lack of time.

"You should eat something."

Calum ignored his friend and continued to write.

"I am not carrying you home if you pass out."

"You talk too much." Calum spoke up without looking up.

The boy chuckled, "my mom cooked you breakfast, she worked hard." he tried persuading.

Calum groaned, the boy smiled knowing it worked.

Calum took the sandwich from his best friend and took a small bites of it. "I hate you, Nick. You can't pull out your mom card every  time I don't listen to you." he spoke with a mouth full of sandwich. And putting it back down. Chugging water to down it.

Nick Nelson grinned, "but it works every time."

Calum was about to counter back when another thought invaded his mind. "Wait, did you finish the math homework?"

"You could've reminded me when you had done it." Nick grumbled as he walked alongside Calum to math class, completing his homework on the way.

Calum was turning the pages of his book making sure he had completed everything, "mate, it was two in the morning, what did you want me to do? Barge in and shout at you?"
