Birthdays. The day you celebrate because you are brought to life? The day you pay for things and take your friends out and live? What does anyone actually do in birthday? Calum for one cries.

He cried prior circumstances. So it wasn't any different, well at least now he had a reason to cry on birthdays.

Is it true that a lot of people just cry on their birthdays?

Well, before more, here's prior information.

The year was 2017. Beware, it is about to get sad and depressing. The day was 30th May. It was Calum's 12th birthday. Big day.

He was sitting with his eight year old brother, Nick Nelson and his brother David with crayons and fidget spinners. Well, David was watching all of them, Nick and Calum were busy trying to figure out how to attach two of their fidget spinners together to make a mega fidgetiest spinner of all time, and Caleb was butchering his colouring book, the poor octopus.

"That looks horrible. It's not shading." Nick commented.

"Thank you for your inputs." Caleb commented blowing a raspberry at the older boy.

Calum threw the fidget spinner getting frustrated, "This is not working, we broke it, Nicky." He whined.

Nick shook his head handing the half spinner to David, "you can figure it out, right?"

David rolled his eyes, probably wishing he had spent the day with his father instead, "kids." He muttered, as if he wasn't a kid too.

"Cal, help!" Caleb shouted, making Calum instantly slide behind to face his brother who had ruined the octopus even more, somehow.

Calum chuckled, "why are you adding so much colour in it? It doesn't make sense. Just use the reference picture I put here." He pointed at the iPad screen long forgotten by the younger boy.

"It's so plain, I need it to stand out so that I beat Ryan Pickering!"

Calum rolled his eyes as he grabbed the colours from him, and started sketching a new octopus, "Things I do for this kid." He muttered as he did his third grade competition for him.

"You should be honored, Cal. You are contributing in 'Art'."

Calum was now too focused on the colouring to hear his brother.

"Well, we can get him to do whatever we want in the name of art. Good to know." Nick commented.

Well this was Calum's twelfth birthday party. It was a party of five people, including Ramona and Imogen who were arriving in a few hours, and Calum's parents were getting the cake.

It was a single- tier cake, chocolate chip of course, and it was Power Rangers theme.

But Calum doesn't remember the rest of the day correctly. He doesn't know if it's cause of the STM -> LTM processing, or his brain processed trauma by forgetting it.

But his memory has slideshows for this specific day with ripple effects, and whooshing noises.
