Gale came to a stop at the far end of the corridor. There, Erica could hear more shuffling, clearer than she did when outside. It came from one of the two doors they were now standing between, facing each other. Even though Erica believed the noise came from the left-hand door, Gale opened the right.
Inside was a long hallway of nothing. Just gradient purple-black walls making a dimly lit passage. Just like the road outside, it turned ever so slightly to the right, the other end was lost in the distance.
Erica stepped in, not sure where this was leading. Not even 3 feet in, Erica was hint face first with something solid. Very solid. Pain blossomed in her nose specifically. That was a wall. A very well-painted wall.
She heard a tiny giggle behind her. 'That's not a room, silly.' Gale proceeded to open the other door, leaving Erica to follow with a red face.
Why? Just why did she open the first one?
