Your heart is beating out of your chest but you try your very best to remain a calm exterior. You're not sure how well you're succeeding. As you take a quick glance at Jane you realize that she's staring at you with an ecstatic expression. This sends a wave of relief through you. You know after this whole dinner, your whole squabble will be forgotten and you will be debriefing the events of the evening like nothing ever happened. You love that no matter how much you fight, you always find your way back to each other.

To your dismay, you notice that Skyler Primrose takes the other seat right next to Tom. Of course. You almost feel like she did this deliberately.

Since most of the other students have already started their meal, you begin to load up your plate too. For a second you think about holding back a little but your hunger is winning and you really pile up.

Tom observes you carefully as you do so and an amused smirk forms on his face. "The roasted cauliflower is amazing," he mumbles to you. You turn your head towards him and grin. Then you take some of the dish he recommended.

"So, any plans on how you're going to use your Liquid Luck already?" you ask before taking a bite out of your steak.

He chuckles. "I'm not sure yet. I was a little worried there for a second, too, Perkins. After Slughorn gave you so much praise for your potion, I thought you would be the single winner."

"Me too, to be honest," you admit, giving him a cheeky grin.

Jane listens intently to your conversation and tries her best not to react. But you can tell how excited she is for you. You just hope she doesn't squeal again or something equally as embarrassing.

He laughs at your smug comment. "Is that so? Well, good thing, I don't mind sharing the spotlight..."

His voice gets lower towards the end of the sentence. The way he said that, it almost sounded suggestive, making your cheeks flush.

Skyler is shooting you looks from time to time. Her lips are pressed against each other. This just boosts your mood even more.

The meal tastes truly amazing and after finishing you feel full and happy. After a while, all the guests seem to have cleaned their plates and Professor Slughorn, who sits on the opposite end of the table from you, clears his throat.

The scattered conversations quiet down and everyone turns their attention to the Potions teacher.

"I hope everyone enjoyed their meal?" his cheeks are glowing red and you suspect he's a little tipsy from the red wine he's been drinking all evening.

The students politely nod and smile at him.

Gleefully, he continues: "Good, good. I want to take this time to let our first-time guests introduce themselves. We have two this month: Miss Perkins and Mister Fledgling, please each say a few words about yourself, if you don't mind." He turns to the Hufflepuff student to his right first, to your relief.

You knew this was bound to happen at some point in the evening, still you dreaded it the whole time. You despise speaking in front of groups of people. Especially, when it comes to "telling them something about yourself". You're never sure what to say.

The boy, who you suspect to be about in his third year seems to feel the same way. He looks red as a tomato as he begins to speak shakily: "I... I'm Donnie. Nice to be here, thanks." He immediately looks down at the table after speaking.

Slughorn furrows his brows, supposedly already regretting even inviting the boy. "Now, Mister Fledgling, I know you're still quite young but do you have plans for your future already?" The professors tone remains friendly.
