wondering through the hectic streets of seoul, her eyes drifted to the starbucks that stood right before her. she could really use a coffee right now. she dragged herself to the door and pushed it open as she was greeted with a warm smile from a familiar face.
"yunah, what are you doing here at 10pm"
"i just need a coffee, like really bad." the girl replied whilst rubbing her weary eyes. dark circles had formed under them by the amount of times she's stayed up late at night just to study.
"yah, that's not good for you yun, but fine i'll only allow it today."
"you're acting like you don't drink like 10 coffees every time you have a shift. anyway, what are you even doing working this late hyein-ah. we have school tomorrow."
"first of all, that's NOT true, besides its tempting to smell it all day long. and i'm only here to help out mum because she was tired, so she left."
"oh. is aunty okay? i haven't seen her for a while."
"she's okay- probably just the old age getting to her, like all our parents now, right?"
they both chuckled.
"here, your iced coffee. and you better be going home now, look at yourself. don't stress too much about tests yun-ieee"
"okay okay, thanks."
yunah left the shops as she finally took a sip of the refreshing drink. it works every time. she had been so focused on her grades these past few weeks, she completely forgot how to take care of herself. i mean, it wasn't completely her fault - she HAS to be the topper in the class. she doesn't want to disappoint her parents. but this ONE annoying brat makes it hard for her. competition is always between them two and she just wish he'd leave the school. makes her life hard for no reason.
as she put her airpods into her ears, she closed her eyes as she felt the gentle breeze of the night hit her face. lee yunah- the epitome of perfect. her parents were rich, she was smart and pretty and popular. what else could someone want in life? but her view was different. no one knew what happened behind closed doors. she was in pain, but she couldn't tell anyone. her life was like a locked room with so many obstacles that she could never escape.
she sighed as she realised she should probably go home. she didn't want to. it was the worst thing ever. she was praying her parents weren't there, since she was coming back late. but, all she could do was hope.
-------------------------
her fingers filled in the password, as the door opened. she creeped inside but it was all worth nothing.
"LEE YUNAH! WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN THIS LATE AT NIGHT?"
her ears bled at the volume in which the manly voice screamed.
"she was probably with some boy. its obvious, isn't it? that's why her grades are falling. how are you letting yang jungwon get more than you?"
as shocking as it may seem to others, she was used to it. her parents were competitive, not only with themselves and their company, but with her. the yang family had always been their competition, with business, and grades. so, they ended up ignoring her feelings, and forced yunah into being their version of a daughter.
"i just went out for a walk." yunah said, blankly. she tended to lose all her emotions when she was around them. yes, she cries, but not in front of them. she had always tried to be strong in her parent's eyes, since she didn't want to be degraded more than she already is.
