Chapter 23 The Baby shower

Melinda and I got up early and made sure the rest of house was clean. By the time we were done; Bella, Edward the twins, Alice, Esme' and Emmett showed with crates of salmon, lobster, clams and bags with wild rice, little weenies, bacon and pineapples with all the things to make barbeque sauce. As Emmett carried the crate of fish inside one of the fish jump, it was a huge Salmon, Emmett smacks it lightly. Bella looked at him funny,

"You slapped a fish?"

"How else is Edward supposed to cook it?" he laughed

As Rose walked in caring about 10 bags of fruit; "Esme', I got every fruit I could find in Seattle."

I looked at the sea food, "All this stuff is still alive?"

Emmett smiled, "My idea, fresh is best."

Rose kissed him "You just wanted to have fun playing in the ocean" She touched his nose and went into the living room to play with the babies.

They got to work and stared getting everything prepared. As the food was being cooked we could hear Jacob and Leah running towards us and Paul and Rachel came down stairs.

"Rose turned towards the windows, "Oh goodie, the mutt is here."

Paul growled, Rachel laughed and put her hand on Paul's chest, "It's ok, Rose and Jacob use nasty names as endearing terms, in truth they are best friends."

There was laughter from the kitchen; Rose hissed and Jacob came in say, "Not likely."

Rachel came in the kitchen "That smells very good."

"Don't worry you will have it in a little bit." Esme' said in her motherly voice she looked at Rachel's belly, "My I?"

"Of course, she took Esme's hand and put it on her belly right where the one of the boys was kicking. "Oh I remember this." She looked happy and heartbroken at the same time.

"You were a mom?" Paul asked

Esme' smiled, "Yes, a long time ago, I lost him to an illness."

Paul was having an internal battle, his thoughts were softening towards the Cullen's, and part of him didn't like it.

"I wish I can have some of that now, it smells so good. Said Rachel,

Edward said "How about a plate of fruits, salami and cream cheeses?"

Rachel smiled "Please and thank you."

Leah brought in baby Edward, "He has a request," she said he leaned forward and touched my face; he was showing me he wanted some food also.

"I will get it for you if you use your voice." He looked at his parents and they both shrugged their shoulders,

"Maybe you should talk to her, it's her house." Bella said

He looked at me, "May I have some salami, fruit and cheese, please?"

He was smothered in an instant with kissed from all his aunties.

I got up, "Yes I will get you..." I was cut off by Edward handing his son and Rachel both plates of food.

"Show off," I said as there was a knock on the front door.

"Of course he is." Emmett said as I went to open the door Emily and Sam walk in with Carlisle.

"It smell good in here," Emily said

Emily came in and stole food off of Rachel's plate. EJ made a cracker sandwich and handed it to her.

"You are so sweet and handsome; you must get your eye color from your daddy." His bright green eyes looked up at her; she grimaced when the babies kicked her really hard. He reached for her hand; he showed her himself touching her belly very gently.

"Of course little one," Emily smiled and took his hand and put it on her belly.

One of the babies was kicking hard again. He tipped his head and he was showing the babies Emilie's face the one she made when they hurt her and all at once the babies were moving less.

I looked at Edward, Edward looked at Carlisle and then at Emily, "He told the babies they were accidently hurting you and they understood and they stopped; May I" Edward asked and Emily nodded; Edward leaned over her belly; Sam went really stiff, and Leah reached out and touched his hand and smiled at him; not that long ago touching him like this would have torn her apart, but now she could see him clearly and be his friend.

Edward smiled, "They love you and Sam, and they love him singing to them at night and they would like some chocolate milk and lobster."

"I looked at Sam; sometimes our weirdness's are good things."

"I guess so." He replied

Carlisle stepped in, Rachel if you are done eating we can go to the same room as last time. She stood up; Paul followed them out of the room.

A few minutes later

"Emily and Sam'" They got up and went to the room. About 20 mints later Sam and Emily come out smiling with Carlisle behind them.

"How are things going Carlisle?" I asked

"Everything is great with both pregnancies; we may be seeing babies in the next week or so." Carlisle smiled.

"Well, I will be ready, Edward gave me everything that would be needed to have here and we have a bag at Emily's as well."

"We are done with the food, it is all ready." Esme' said as she walked over and stood next to Carlisle.

Bella stood up and picked up Renesmee', "Emily, Rachel, congrats on the babies, call if you need anything and call Alice for the clean up." Alice rolled her eyes from the floor where she sat next to Jasper.

"Thank you Bella," Emily said as she hugged her. "And we will."

"We will be out hunting tonight; I do not foresee any babies making an early entrance." Said Alice Carlisle smiled, "We will try to remain in cell rang, Things can change quickly with pregnancies."

Jasper helped Alice up and they walked to the door and opened it. Alice stopped in the door way, she looked back at Malinda and gave her the stink eye; after a long second all the Cullens left. Malinda took all the gifts upstairs to organize them and rewrap them. There was a knock on the door; Aunt Nanette let herself in,

"Does it ever stop raining here?" We were all laughing as the boys took her bags and I hugged her. She looked around the room,

"Where is your sister?"

"Upstairs, sorting and wrapping gifts; Alice bought way too many."

"I will go help her."

By the time guests were arriving everything was ready.
