Muddy Water

Chapter 9 Forks High

               We woke up to the alarm; I had helped Melinda shower the night before so it was my turn. There was only one bathroom in the house this was going to be difficult. Leah was already gone; Sue was making muffins, sausage and eggs.

"Hey need help?" I ask

"No, go shower so you can get to school on time; don't want to be late your first day."

I grimaced "Ya, thanks."

I took a quick shower there wasn't much hot water left. Maybe I will have to shower at night while I am here. I dressed in my typical tank top, layered with a flannel, jeans and boots, and put my hair into a braid.

I went to check on Melinda to see if she needed any help.

"You good?"

She looked up, "Buttons suck one handed." she said as she waved her cast in the air.

I help her button up the shirt and stand up so she can get her pants buttoned

We get her boot on her broken leg and her tennis shoe on the other foot; I tied her long hair back into a ponytail. I always envied her looks; auburn hair with white streaks, like natural high lights, deep green eyes, but just as pale as me.

We looked at each other; she took a deep breath,

"Relax, will you. Besides this was your idea." I said

She laughs at me as I pretend to be disappointed. She hits my shoulder with her good hand,

"Ok let's go."

We head to the kitchen; Sue was there with 4 plates of eggs, sausage and large blue berry muffins. The front door opened and I see Leah and Seth walk in. As soon as Melinda see's him she relaxes and the biggest smile crosses her face.

"Oh, that smells good." Seth said before his eyes met hers.

"Good I hope so, eat fast or you will be late." Sue said, mostly to Seth.

"Ok" Was all he said as he took his plate, still staring at my sister?

We ate in silence, when I was done I grabbed my bag and told Melinda I would meet her in the car. I turned back to talk to Sue.

"Sue we won't be back till later tonight, Melinda has her check up with Carlisle."

She smiled, "Curfew is 11:30 unless you are on patrol."

I headed out the door, as I was getting in the car, Leah came up behind me.

"Can we meet up tonight, I would like to talk to you, get to know you."

"That would be great, is 9pm ok? I think I might want to run tonight."

"I will run with you." and with that Leah ran off into the woods.

"Melinda lets go." I yelled

"Coming" As Seth helped her down the 2 steps.

I pulled out and had to drive slowly till I hit the highway.

Pulling in to the high school which wasn't much different then were I went before in small town Idaho and I see a silver Volvo ,the best looking car in the lot. Mine was going to stick out like a sore thumb. I pulled in next to it knowing it would not get hit here; before I could get the key out Alice had opened the passenger door.

"I will help you out." She said as she reached for my sister. "I already have your schedules, but you will still need to go to the office. You both have Spanish, math and English with Edward and Bella and Gym and science with me and a study hall. Apparently you two have enough credits to graduate already."
