What am I doing?

My brain seemed to go blank as soon as I registered the tender warmth against my lips, the gentle breaths brushing my skin, the fluttering in my chest. It was like we both froze in time for a moment, quite literally, because neither of us moved for a few seconds, the air around us as still as it was electrifying.

And as quickly as I leaned in, I pulled back, flustered and embarrassed.

I took in the stunned look on Yixing's face, his mouth hanging open as he blinked at me in disbelief. Immediately, I felt the urge to apologise, quickly stepping away from him if only so I could breathe properly again.

"I-I'm sorry," I stammered, "I don't know what came over me..."

Yixing was silent for a few agonizing moments before he finally seemed to gather himself. "Um... It's okay. Y-You don't have to apologise," he spoke, his voice coming out a little raspier than usual. He chewed on his bottom lip thoughtfully before looking up to meet my eyes again. "I don't actually... Swing that way, Luhan."

In a moment, all the butterflies swirling around in my tummy seemed to die, forming a cold, heavy pile of dread at the pit of my stomach. Crestfallen, I took another step back.

No... Not again.

It brought back too many memories.

That rejection. I don't think I can take it again. Not after...

Not after Jongin.

My heart was no longer buzzing pleasantly in my chest but throbbing painfully at the memories that came rushing back.

It's not okay. It was never okay.

I'm still hurting.

"O-Oh," I managed to articulate, my voice stone cold and emotionless as it left my lips. I cleared my throat, "It's getting late. We should get going."

Unable to look at his face, fists clenched at my sides, I made my way towards the driver's seat. But before I could reach it, I was being pulled by the arm and turned around, feeling the cold surface of the car pressed against my back. Yixing stood in front of me, way too close for comfort, still holding on to my arm.

I stared up at him incredulously, a frown beginning to form on my face. "What are you-"

"I thought you were good at calling me out on my bullshit," he said coolly, letting go of my arm and placing both of his on either side of my head instead. His expression was honest even through the knowing smirk playing on his lips, his bright eyes boring into my own. "I thought I was being incredibly obvious."

Surprisingly gentle, his hand caressed my cheek as a more genuine smile pulled on his lips. "I've been swinging your way ever since I first saw you, Luhan. Heck, I'm glad I got that seizure in the middle of class, because it gave me a reason to talk to you."

Before I knew it, he was leaning in again, capturing my lips in a searing kiss. He pressed his body against mine, and from this close, I could feel the quick, steady beating of his heart. His lips, warm and wet, slid against mine sweetly and slowly. His movement natural and experienced, while I sloppily followed along, the dread from before slowly dissipating, being replaced by something else.

Before I knew it, I found myself placing two hands on his chest, angrily shoving him away. I felt an unreasonable rage well up inside me as I panted, glaring at him.

"You... You think this is funny?" I asked sharply, "Playing around with my feelings... Flirting with me all the time... Stealing my first fucking kiss... Rejecting my feelings and then claiming it was a joke? Do you even know what I had to go through-" I took in a sharp breath, feeling tears sting in my eyes as he stared at me in shock. "You... You're fucking sick!"
