Chapter 16: Revealation

Third Person P.O.V

"Hiccstrid! What are you doing here? I thought you were suppose to come back next month.", Astrid stuttered. "Hey, mom. Nah, I missed you so I decided to come and drop by. Why? Is it a bad timing or anything?" Hiccup said. Hiccup looked at his mom and saw that his mom was confused, sad, hurt, and most probably angry all at once. He saw his mom looking at Hiccup and semi glared at Hiccup. He was legit confused. Why was his mom glaring at that guy when she's never even met the guy? That question has been on his mind all day. "So, mom. What you cooking for dinner?", asked Hiccup. "I'm gonna cook your favourite dish. Fish stew." Astrid replied. "Oh my god! I haven't had that since forever." Hiccstrid said. Hiccup glanced at Hiccstrid and glared at Astrid who was beside Hiccstrid. Astrid was beyond terrified about what might happen that day at her house.

The day went by pretty slow and it was very dreadful for Astrid because she was scared of what might happen when she's alone with Hiccup. She was positive that the truth is gonna be revealed anytime soon. She made sure at least one of the kids are with her everytime. She did that for two reasons. One was to get on Hiccup's nerve, another was to avoid awkward and intense moments with Hiccup.

The kids and Hiccup went back to the village after dinner was served. The dinner was cheerful by the kids' noisy and cute bantering. They even made their parents' join in the conversation and laughing together eventhough their parents gave one word replies and a few little smiles and laughs just to make the children happy. Astrid's heart broke little by little seeing how Hiccup looked at Hiccstrid in a way how fathers do to their children. She felt guilty and really terrible.

SKIP TO A FEW WEEKS LATER......

Hiccup just cannot stand it anymore and wanted to confront Astrid about Hiccstrid. He gave Hiccstrid extra work than the usual ones that Hiccstrid has to distract him. Hiccstrid went to Astrid's little cottage after making sure everything at the village was fine. Astrid was outside doing the laundry when Hiccup arrived. "Hey." Hiccup said once he got of Toothless. Astrid jump startled, Hiccup just laughed at Astrid. It was quiet for a few moment until Astrid spoke up. "Hey there, Hiccup. What are you doing here?" Astrid said nervously. She was worried and she felt like her heart was about to explode. "So, how are you? Hows life? Good?" Hiccup asked. "Oh by the way, hows OUR SON?" Hiccup yelled at Astrid. Astrid was shocked. How did he even figure that out? What is she talking about? Of course he would've known you idiot, she thought. It is HIS son we're talking about here, woman! Astrid was making these weird faces while having an inner battle with herself when Hiccup was just standing there looking amused and angry. "Hey. You done yet?" Hiccup asked Astrid. Astrid looked up but didn't dare to look at his eyes. Anywhere but his eyes. "Hey, look at me. Look at my eyes." Hiccstrid said calmly. Astrid did what he told her to do. "So, when were you gonna tell me that we have a son together? Or am i gonna be kept in the dark in the dark forever? Am i not gonna know about Hiccstrid till something happens? Huh? Am i?" Hiccup semi shouted at  Astrid. Astrid stood in front of Hiccup speechless. Now or never, Astrid thought to herself. "Look, Hiccup. I never meant to keep Hiccstrid away from you. You know I'm not that bad. I was just scared you'd leave and cheat on me like before. And I couldn't find you anywhere when I wanted to tell you about Hiccstrid. Then I found you near the mountains with Merida and I saw you kissing. So I ran away. I raised Hiccstrid here with the help of the nice witch who offered to help me in the first place. I really wanted to tell you but couldn't. I'm sorry Hiccup. I'm so sorry.". By now, Astrid was crying. Hiccup bent down to hug Astrid and whispered soothing words to her ear. "Mom. Was all that true? Am i Hiccup's son?" Hiccup and Astrid jumped up from their crouched position and stood up. Astrid was wiping her eyes furiously while Hiccup was staring at the ground like it was very interesting. "Well. Is it true?"demanded Hiccstrid. "Look son, I'm so sorry this happened to you-" " No, its not true. I'm not Hiccup's son, right mom? Its not true right?" cried Hiccstrid. Astrid started to cry again and went to hug Hiccstrid but he decline the hug. Astrid cried even more. Hiccup went to Astrid and hugged her. Hiccstrid just cried and stomped off onto his dragon and flew off. "Oh my god. What are we gonna do, Hiccup? I screwed up. I feel terrible." Astrid said while holding her head in between her hands and pulling at her hair. Hiccup didn't say anything. He just comforted her like those years before. After a while, Hiccup stood up and carried Astrid into the cottage. He laid Astrid on the bed and laid on the bed himself beside Astrid. He racked his brain on how to approach Hiccstrid carefully without stressing the poor kid out. But then he has an idea. And he has to move quick.
