Chapter 7 : The Decision

Astrid, her family and the gang sat at the chairs on the right. As for Merida - which was already clean from the blood - and her family sat on the left. Hiccup sat at a special table in the middle, facing everyone. Alone.

Stoick as the judge. Gobber next to him. Some of the other villagers including Valka sat at the back of the hall, as the observers. Everyone was talking in the hall except for the three victims.

"Okay, quiet down." Gobber said. Everyone settled down.

"We are hear today because of the rumours about Hiccup and Merida.." Stoick trailed off. "Did it." he finished.

Astrid felt herself sweating. She wasn't comfortable with the word.

"Hey, it's okay." Ruff held her hand since she was sitting next to her. Astrid felt more hurt. Hearing her best friend said that makes her feel more painful. She forced a smile on her face and nodded.

"Before we begin, let's hear what the victims have to say." Gobber said.

"Our first victim, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock."

Hiccup stood up but felt his legs shaking. He felt dizzy. 'How can I get into this?' he thought. "First of all," he tried to sound stern. "I just landed with Toothless, and a villager told me that this happened." he finished.

"Who is that villager?" Gobber asked. Hiccup searched the crowd. "Marcus.." he pointed to a teenage boy. Marcus stood up. He looked confident.

"What did you told Hiccup?" Stoick asked. Marcus said that he told exactly what Hiccup said. "Sit down Marcus." Stoick said as Marcus sat.

"Is that it..." Stoick looked at Hiccup.

"Hiccup?" he finished. Hiccup felt slightly hurt. He wasn't sure if his own father didn't want to call him 'son' or he really wanted to call him 'Hiccup'. Hiccup nodded.

"Sit down." Gobber said.

"Our second victim. Merida." he gestured to the red haired girl. Merida stood up confidently.

"As for Merida, we will be asking you questions." Stoick said. Merida nodded.

"Merida, are you really pregnant." Gobber asked. Merida looked at him, confused. "Can't you see blood dripping everywhere just now?!" she yelled, crying.

"Well, we just wanted to make sure it wasn't paint or anything else." Gobber explained.

Merida looked nervous.

"Yes! I really am pregnant!" Merida shouted.

"Not with me!" Hiccup stood up.

"Yes! We did! Don't you remember?"

"It's not that I don't remember! We never did it!" Hiccup shouted.

"Yes we di-"

"Calm down!" Stoick's voice boomed in the hall as he banged his table. Everyone was quiet again.

"Astrid, what do you think?" Stoick looked at Astrid who was staring down at the empty and blank table.

Ruffnut elbowed her.

"Huh?" she hesitated.

"Who do you believe?" he asked again.

"I... I..." She opened her mouth to say something but closed it back. Stoick knew that Astrid also can't decide just like he couldn't.

"Well then." Gobber said.

Everyone sat down.

"Let's hear what the villagers had to say." he said, looking at the observers. A couple of villagers raised up their hands withput making a sound.

"Fergus." Stoick said awkwardly since he was his best friend.

"I don't think my daughter would lie since she never wanted to get married when we're in Dunbroch." Fergus said confidentally as Elinor nodded.

Astrid looked at Merida's parents. 'They couldn't have lied.' she thought.

"What would you suggest we do?" Gobber asked nervously. He, obviously thought that Hiccup wouldn't do such a thing. He's not that kind of a guy. But he doesn't have any proof.

"He should marry my daughter." Elinor stood.
