Helpless

Mariah's POV

I followed James next to his locker. My stomach fizzing with excitement as I tried to say seriously even though I was about to burst. "So, why are we here?" 

He smiled at me and my heart skipped a beat as he said slightly nervously which I was surprised at:  "I've liked you for a while Mariah. You know that right?" I felt like I was going to scream as I shook my head trying to keep out a grin.                    " I was wondering if you would like to go put of lunch one day? "

"Oh my gosh yes!" I squealed an I saw him grin, maybe it was a smirk but he couldn't be smirking right?                        " I'm free on Thursday after school if you are!" He nodded and said:           "Sure I'll pick you up then but one more thing, "

"Hmm?" I said, what could be that important on a first date? 

"Don't tell anyone about this, you know they hate me and I do feel bad about Thomas. " He said sheepishly. 

I agreed and walked back to our table and everyone was there.                                     "Are you alright, what did Reynolds say and did he hurt you?" Alexander said to me. 

"No, no he was just saying about if you hurt Thomas again I WILL FIGHT THAT BASTARD AND HIS DICK HEAD MEN!" I said trying to convince them all and mocking James and they all laughed to my relief. Hopefully I can keep this up. 

James POV 

I walked back to the table and told them all how she seemed excited and this will go splendidly. We all smirked and chuckled. Mariah was a nice girl but I had to show that I didn't feel bad even though I kind of did. 

Actually scratch that from what I can tell she would do anything for me and go through anything. 

"So Mr Jefferson what's the plan?" I said gleefully, hoping that it would be easy. 

"Just go on the date and-"  He was about to say something but the bell went. "Well saved by the bell, have a good day Reynolds." 

I waved as I walked to my next class, history.
