I hope you guys are enjoying this as I am :)
...I awoke with a scream, and a pair of hands pushed me gently back down making me panic even more until I realized that they belonged to Eric. My shoulders slumped in relief and I took a moment to calm the thundering of my heart.
"What did you see?" Eric's voice came out soothingly, a vastly different persona than he was with me before. "A dream?" He asked.
"Yes, but no. They've been so different lately."
"Explain." It was a demand and I gave him a frown in response.
"I need to know how to protect the Chosen One. I need to see if your premonition matched with Nyx's and if it gave you any other information." He continued a little softer, but his words were anything but.
A noise of disbelief came from me, "Right." My teeth gritted, choking on the lodge held in my throat. "Your precious Chosen One."
He brought his face inches to mine. "You may be a little delusional, but oracles tend to be empathic and when one touches the other sometimes it triggers their powers and their premonition sync together."
"Delusional?" I laughed. "If I'm so delusional then why am I your charge Eric?" I stood up in a hurry from the bed taking a quick notice that I was in the infirmary and I knew exactly where the exit route was. "Better yet, why are you lying to everyone?"
He ignored me, "I can force the truth from you, you know. I'm only asking to be nice since I know that you are new. You didn't grow up here like the rest of the targets."
"You can try." I marched to the doorway but in a flicker I was thrown to the bed with his hands wrapped around my neck. He squeezed and I felt my face flush even though it was just a warning.
He had me pinned as I tried to buck him off with his legs straddling me. I screamed as I scratched at his hands but he didn't even flinch. It was child's play to him and it frustrated me even more. I felt a bubbling inside of me and I laid my hands out to his chest as I felt it burn. It was a deep rooted ache that wanted to be released and so I did. He was on the other side of the room at the exact moment a light bursted out from my hands.
I watched in amazement as it kept on emitting and smiled in disbelief. "It wasn't just a fluke. It's real."
"Shut it off," Eric threatened.
I waved my hands threw the air with them still flowing out. When that didn't work I perched my eyebrows in concentration to try again. "Eric it's not working." I was beginning to feel light headed as the light kept on flowing out of me. "Eric what's happening? I can't stop it!" I was growing more panicked as I could tell that I was draining fast.
"Piper you need to stop it right now!" He demanded, but he seemed to look at me in concern too, taking in my paling physic.
"I can't genius, I've been trying!" I tried waving them around again, watching the light push the infirmary's beds against the wall in a circle around me. The windows began cracking from the force, and I watched as Joshua and Damien entered the room with their swords drawn.
It grew brighter as it sensed my fear making the whole room shudder.
"Damien, Joshua out now!" Eric commanded taking notice that their presence was making matters worse.
They placed their swords back in their sheaths as they gave him a worrisome look and shut the door without one word. It agitated me that they were so fiercely loyal to their prince even though he was acting anything but normal.
