"Who are you people? Where am I?" I looked around, noticing that I was in some type of infirmary.
Not long after witnessing Damien's friend strike the last demon, Damien had covered my eyes in a blindfold, and managed to restrain me in some type of binds. It felt like we were flying for ages, until we weren't. As soon as my feet brushed against the ground, I tried to book it, but it was as though Damien had read my mind. I got a good three feet before he had me in his iron embrace again. Without any answers he carried me as I kicked and pried for any clues, and now I'm here.
He wasn't alone this time. A lady who appeared in her early thirties was talking to him in hurried whispers as his friend watched over me silently. He stood stoically over the bed Damien laid me on with his arms crossed over his chest. I took my time to examine the tribal markings over his biceps before my eyes roamed around for an exit.
"Why won't you answer me?" I demanded, and was once again met with silence. I stood up in defiance, "look you can't just keep me here, claiming to be protecting me and then give me no answers!"
"Sit," was all that came out of his mouth.
And then I was back on the bed in a huff.
The lady finally came back, and for some reason she seemed familiar but I couldn't place it, but for that, I trusted her.
"Look, we know you're confused, but we aren't going to hurt you. I just need you to answer some of my questions, can you do that for me please?" She laid her hand over mine in almost a calming way. I felt my body pull into a lull to listen to whatever she asked and to satisfy her needs. I quickly snapped my hand away, feeling invaded.
In seconds I was up against the wall in a protective manner, "What were you doing to me?"
She looked shockingly to Damien and to the other man. They shared a look as if they had an unspoken conversation before nodding and turning back to me.
"I'm sorry dear, you just have to realize this is a dire situation for us and we are just trying to have some answers to all of this. You have to realize that you shouldn't be possible."
"What do you mean?" My eyebrows furrowed at her statement.
She dodged my question for another one, "Can you tell us anything about what you know about our kind?"
My head was pounding at all of this. This shouldn't even be real.
"I-I have dreams."
"Dreams?" She pushed further.
"I think I am dreaming," I muttered to myself before continuing. "Since I've been little I was always dreaming about you guys--angels--I mean. Then fighting the Demon King with another angel. I'm sorry, I don't remember much, can you just tell me how all of this is possible? I'm not dreaming right?"
The man spoke out firmly, "What angel?"
"I-I," I found myself hesitating. I never spoke his name out loud, and I knew that saying it would make all of this real, and I didn't know what to believe.
He was in front of me in a flash, his hand was around my throat in a threatening matter, forcing me to suck in a breath. "Tell me," he demanded.
"Joshua!" I heard Damien shout in command.
"E-Eric."
His grip tightened to the point where it was cutting my airway, "Try again. That's not possible," he spat.
I felt panicked at not being able to breathe. My finger tips began to tingle.
"Joshua let her go!"
"She could be a spy. You know she's lying Damien. Don't be a fool!" He shouted.
