Lili:
I smile weakly at the girl in front of me. My mouth was just barely upturned but I knew she saw it. I also knew how she saw that it didn't reach my eyes.
Tiger sat on the edge of the bed, staring at me. She didn't say anything and I wasn't exactly going to start up a conversation. It was just a quiet few moments in the room we both shared, the dog sleeping soundly next to me.
"Look," my little sister said, turning away from me. "You don't have to talk. I know you don't like to. So I'll just speak."
I didn't talk, she was right. My body hated even the thought of talking. I just sat there, waiting for the girl in the silly overalls to continue. My entire body shaking from the thought of what this conversation was about.
Once again there was a break as if she didn't know what to say or how to start. I didn't expect her to, no one in our family has ever been good with words. I highly doubt she would be an exception.
After what seemed like infinity, Tiger spoke. She was slow and cautious, picking out the words she was using. Her lips hardly moved and I knew she was afraid. But I didn't know what of.
"I'm sorry. Jesus, do you even know what that means? No one tells you it. Although, you really do deserve it considering what you've been through." Tiger paused, looking back at me. I shook my head, not liking where this was going.
She didn't understand. The poor girl would never understand because I've only told her half of the story. Tiger is too young for any of it. I dont want it to haunt her.
"We've hardly been here and you got in trouble for making a friend? Ill admit, I thought Harry had a right in yelling. But he didn't." Tiger looked around before getting up. I followed her with my eyes.
In all honesty, I was speechless. I didn't know what to even think about what she said. It was like my mind had gone blank.
Tiger is far too innocent for something to come out of her like that. Twelve year olds are never that sincere, are they? Then again, my little sister isn't like most twelve years olds.
A knock on the door brings me out of my tangled thoughts. We both look towards the brown door, wondering which of the boys that could be. They all had still seemed on edge after yesterday.
"Come in." I heard a soft voice speak. Then the door opened and I saw soft brown curls peak through the crack in the door. I jumped, startled.
Harry? What was the British boy doing here? I thought he was still angry. I never knew he would calm down in one day.
"Hello." The boy said, stepping further in. He shut the door behind him. "I came to apologize, is this the best time?"
I look into Tiger's eyes.
